What makes a marriage powerful is not the living together of a man and a woman under the same roof. It is the sacred vows shared on the wedding day.
What makes the vows powerful was that it was said before God.
Many don’t even realize the sacredness of what they were doing exchanging marriage vows. A marriage covenant was enacted the moments those vows were said to each other and more so, God being a witness to the vows.
There is no marriage without an officiating minister conducting the marriage. In fact, the priest has to read the vows for the intending couples. The presence of the priest, representing God and doing the joining, proves that God is involved in the union.
Mal 2:15 [KJV] And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Mal2:16 [Amp] For the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I hate divorce and marital separation and him who covers his garment [his wife] with violence. Therefore keep a watch upon your spirit [that it may be controlled by My Spirit], that you deal not treacherously and faithlessly [with your marriage mate].

God put a lot of premium on treating your spouse well in marriage. Not only is God against cheating but everything that is an appearance of evil.
Dealing with your spouse treacherously also means not having an understanding of your spouse’s temperament and love language.
God asks us in order to fulfill our marital vows to watch our spirit and let it be controlled by His Spirit. When we are controlled by God’s Spirit, we will not walk in the flesh.
Such things as anger tantrums, silent treatment, criticizing, shaming, conterminous your spouse will not be there. Rather we will look out and fulfill our roles as leaders (for husbands) and helpmates (as wives)
Even God recognizes the fact that it takes Him by His Spirit to help us. The marital journey can never be fulfilled on our own.
Seek God’s help in every area. Whatever is the peculiar need of your spouse, receive Grace to satisfy it. Remember, your spouse will always to the opposite of you.
Some spouses complain my wife/husband like Jeru trip too much, my spouse is too shy, my spouse is too slow, my spouse is tight-fisted, my spouse is careless, my spouse is too spiritual, my spouse likes food too much etc, the list goes on and on
Remember, God has equipped you with whatever your spouse needs, just as whatever will fulfill your own needs he will meet. You have what it takes to satisfy your spouse. Use it well. It could be demanding but do it anyway rejoicing.
God bless our marriage
CONFESSION FOR THE DAY I will love my spouse rightly.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY Lord, help me to honor my marriage vows.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Mal2:16 [Amp] For the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I hate divorce and marital separation and him who covers his garment [his wife] with violence. Therefore keep a watch upon your spirit [that it may be controlled by My Spirit], that you deal not treacherously and faithlessly [with your marriage mate].
You must learn to choose your friends wisely, for they can make you or mar you. Let’s look at the story of Dele, Kemi and the purse.
“She won’t know!” Dele said, urging Kemi to take some money out of Kemi’s mother’s purse. “I don’t think she counted it.”
They were at Kemi’s house watching a movie. Kemi’s mother had just come back from the market and left her bag on the chair beside them.
“I don’t want to take her money,” Kemi said. “I can always ask her for money and she will give me.”
A friend is not supposed to encourage you to commit a sin. Stealing is a sin because you are taking what does not belong to you, even if the person is a family member, close friend, or classmate. As long as what you have taken isn’t yours and you don’t have permission to do so, it is still a sin.
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
1 Cor 15:33 [KJV]
Be careful of friends like Dele. Friends who urge you to steal. Don’t make friends with such people. Choose your friends wisely because your choice of friends deeply influences your choices, actions, behavior, and attitude.
Good friends help to strengthen your relationship with God and your parents. They offer help, support, encourage you to be a good person, and not the other way round. They tell you the truth when you are wrong.
Bad friends will influence in negative ways that will disturb your walk with God and keep you at loggerheads with your parents constantly. Their influence can seep deep into your whole life, causing you so much pain later in life.
Prayer: Lord, give me good friends that will help me know you more. Amen.
Action plans: Take a good look at your friends. Have there been times when they have asked you to do something wrong?
Declaration: My children are surrounded by good friends. They are not negatively influenced in Jesus name, amen.

The LORD gives me the strength needed to birth all that He has in mind for me in this month in the name of Jesus.
I begin to declare heaven on earth to my life and family in the name of Jesus.
Every spirit sponsoring miscarriage in my life, I bind you in the name of Jesus.
I disconnect myself from the negative family pattern of delayed conception and birthing in the name of Jesus.
I declare that the LORD satisfies me with His mercy early, and causes me to dance and rejoice all day long in the name of Jesus.
In this season, I experience the faithfulness and hand of God in my life and family in the name of Jesus.
Let’s begin to thank the LORD for answered prayers.

Oil For Today – Day 148
In the name of Jesus, I call forth all that have been available for me in Christ. I lay hold on all that pertains to good living. I birth that which I have been pregnant of. I declare, this is my season of overflow. This is my season of abundance. This is my time to shine and excel. Every promise God has shown me, I bring them to be. I will not have a miscarriage. My fruit will not drop in Jesus name, Amen.
“I have ported to Olorunsogo, I’m no longer in Surulere!”
“I don’t care if he is not good-looking, as long as he has money!”
These and more statements are what flies around these days. It is good to desire good things, but man will never be your source! It is important to understand this truth.
Men should be responsible, financially grounded with good jobs, but they would never become your Jehovah Jireh.
Asking a guy for a car before you can say yes is a wrong approach altogether. You must be sure you are in love with the person and not with the purse. You are getting married to the man, not his ATM.
Don’t ever make the mistake of using his purse to determine your decision to marry him or not. The contents of the purse are not always permanent, things often change with time.
In the heart of God, He knows the right person for you. The person He has for you is His best plan for your life.
Who He has for you will not turn you into a widow after five years. Who He has for you will not turn you into a punching bag after a while.
It is only God that can dig out a man who will still love you in another fifty years.
It is only God that knows the man who will gracefully combine the role of a responsible husband and a responsible father.

It is only God that knows a broke man who is on his way to being rich and a rich man who is on his way to being broke.
It is only God who knows the man that will provide an enabling environment for you to blossom, for your gifts to come alive and for your productivity to be at the maximum.
So, it becomes important to allow God’s purpose to supersede man’s purse.
The purpose is greater than the purse. A fat purse without a purpose in life will soon go empty.
Don’t be caught up with the mammon spirit, wherein, money is the decision fulcrum.
Let God have the final say. He only knows tomorrow. He only knows the eye that will not begin early to issue out pus!
Before you find out about his bank account, find out about God’s account of him. That is how to do it right.
I pray that God will give you direction indeed and that He will show you His plans for your life in Jesus name!
CONFESSION FOR THE DAY I will marry rightly.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY Lord, lead me to the right person for me.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Isaiah 30:21 [KJV] And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Yesterday, we started this topic. If you missed the devotional, you can read it HERE
What are the three things every husband or wife wants?
1. Prayers
2. Words of affirmation
3. Jeru trip
Lets take these items one by one.
1. Prayers There is so much you can pray for about your spouse. The issue is that you won’t know until you decide to start praying for him/her.
You have to remain prayed up for your spouse. Let no day pass without you bringing them before the throne of Grace and Mercy. Not just a general prayer but specific prayers.
You can have a prayer journal where you follow up on your prayers intelligently. You won’t know how much you are short circuiting God’s favor, mercy, goodness etc until you start praying for each other.
2. Words of affirmation There is no one that doesn’t appreciate some good words. We thrive on words and so some good, encouraging words would help us when we are overwhelmed by life.
Learn to speak into the life of your spouse. Declare Gods words over him/her. Take authority over the devil and any depressive spirit around them.
Encourage your spouse, celebrate him/her when they have done something good, praise and eulogize them. This will encourage them to do better.
Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE
3. Jeru trip This is essential because any marriage lacking in good and intimate Jeru trip has been reduced to a club or association. Intimacy in marriage is achieved when both can be naked and not ashamed, where you can lay bare everything.
Jeru trip in marriage keep couples healthy spirit, soul and body. It releases tension and renews energy and creativity to move on.
Remember, your spouse needs you.
God bless our marriage!
CONFESSION FOR THE DAY I pray for my spouse and encourage him/her with my words.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY Lord, help me sow good seeds into my marriage
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Ephesians 5:31. (KJV) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY Make a decision to do these 3 things
There is what is known as the force of gratitude. Sounds huge? Let’s break it down. Ideally, when someone gives you a gift or offers a compliment, you ought to say thank you because it shows courtesy, that you are well brought up and not a country bumpkin.
Also, it’s a sacrifice on the person’s side. They decided to give you out of love or they saw that you needed something.
Even with a compliment, the person took his or her time to really look at you and decide to appreciate you for how you dressed, your hair, how clean your nails are, or how nice you smell. They noticed you.
The least you can say is thank you with a very genuine and friendly smile.
If someone pays you a compliment about how good your grades are, say thank you. That’s the force of gratitude.
The Bible tells us to be thankful and that when we are grateful for what we have, we will receive more.
There are lots of people out there looking for who to notice them and would be grateful to just have one person say to them “you look good.”
I believe you have understood the force of gratitude. Therefore, remember to say thank you the next time you get a gift or compliment.
Prayer: Lord, I am grateful for all I have. Thank you for providing for my needs. Thank you for the compliments I have gotten and will get. Help me to always appreciate whatever I receive from others. Amen.
Action plan: Consciously be aware of people’s compliments. Ensure you reply with a smile and “thank you.”
Declaration: My children are grateful. They show appreciation in all they do.

Begin to thank God for today.
Put Your Hand upon me LORD, and infuse me with the strength I need for today in the name of Jesus.
Every red sea standing in my way to entering my promised land dries up by the Hand of God in the name of Jesus.
The Hand of God intervenes in my relationship/marriage and settles me maritally in the name of Jesus.
The Alpha and Omega completes every project He has started in my life in the name of Jesus.
Today, I receive the anointing to triumph in the work of my hands in the name of Jesus.
I declare that the Hand of the LORD protects me, my family, and my career/business in the name of Jesus.
O LORD of the heavenly armies, rise and defend me from all my enemies in the name of Jesus.
Lift up Your majestic Voice O LORD, and mention my name to kings, causing them to favour me in Jesus’ Name.

Oil For Today – Day 147
This day, I see the mighty hand of God upon my life. The hand of God gives me speed. I have massive increase because God’s hand rests upon me. In my daily encounter, I see miracles everywhere. Obstacles are removed for my sake. Long standing issues are resolved. By the reason of God’s hand upon me, there is restoration. I receive the strength needed for today. I receive favor today. I receive direction today. So shall it be, in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
Oh my God, everything is set! The hips, the lips, and the tips! The right statistics are all there! And above all, she is spiritual! I have listened to her tongues, it is the tongues of an angel!
Well, the reality is that you cannot determine a person’s spirituality by how she speaks in tongues.
That was how a particular brother broke his relationship because all the “tongues” of the sister is “sanda, sanda, sanda, sanda…. the brother reasoned, when will she buy shoe?
So, he ended up marrying this other sister whose tongue is full of rich vowels and the tongues sound like a real language.
What he doesn’t know is that you cannot decode anything with physical ears. It is a mystery unto God, not for a brother to use as a measure of spirituality.
So, after marrying this sister whose tongues is all packaged, he found out that she was very lazy. She couldn’t cook any good food successfully. So, who is spiritual?
Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered. Kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals, kindly go HERE
Her tongues are all packaged but she cannot cook or change pampers! She is not spiritual.
What the brother failed to realized is that there are sisters, sistos, sis and babes!
She is speaking in tongues while her mum is preparing food she would eat daily and setting table for her! She is not spiritual because she is not honoring her parents.
So, basically, beyond the hips, lips, and tips, there is more to it. Look deeper, beauty can be deceptive.
Thank God for hot legs, the heart nko? The heart should be hot as well!
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Pro 31:30 (KJV)
The only way beauty would not be vain is if it is sitting on a heart that is after God, with a character that speaks of the kingdom lifestyle.
One of the contradictions of our generation is that a beautiful face can conveniently sit on an empty head.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful face on an empty head.
Pro 11:22 (MSG)
In the Message Translation of Pro 31:30
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-GOD.
Pro 31:30 (MSG)
She has to fear the Lord! A lady who does not fear the Lord will bring hell rather than help!
A lady who cannot say NO to iniquity, who spreads her legs at the sight of mammon, who compromises and forsakes the guide of her youth is not worth it.
May God guide you as you decide in the area.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Isaiah 30:21 [KJV] And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Every once in a while, every husband and wife needs these three things. It basically takes care of most of the needs we have.
My husband is very busy and I’m sometimes amazed at how he joggles many things together. The mere fact that he never went to any computer school nor had any formal training and he knows so much keeps me amazed.
He designs the KHC website and other sites and manages all our outfit online including our podcasts. Sometimes, he has to research all by himself for days and sometimes burn the night candle to get things done.
He also has a church to take care of, bills to pay and a family to look after. He also has stay at the cutting edge of ministry which involves a lot of prayers and studying God’s word.
As his wife, I have to provide the most conducive environment for him to function at an ultimate level, avoid strife and be very understanding.

I most confess here, I do fall short of my responsibilities at times, but thank God for His Spirit and Grace that always helps me.
My husband has to teach me and tell me how important my support is to him.
I also feel we are meant to create the support system our spouses need. Husbands to wives and wives to husbands, we all need these support systems if not, the purpose of marriage is defeated.
Tomorrow, I would share just three of these support we can give each other at any given time.
God bless your marriage.

My children are preserved. God is in the business of preserving and protecting. Part of His promise to us is to be with us in trouble.
More specifically, he wants to preserve us, especially our children, from the snares of death.
One way children can make this happen is by fearing the Lord.
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.
Proverbs 14:27 ESV
Like we read in the scripture above, the fear of the Lord is paramount to our daily living.
When you have the fear of God, you will turn away from the snare of death.
That is, when you put the fear of God in your heart by studying and meditating on God’s word and obeying all instructions, you will be lead by God and preserved from any form of snare.
Children, decide to do it God’s way. Follow God, follow the bible and watch how God will stand up for you.
Prayer: Lord, preserve my children in Jesus name. Amen
Action point: Read, meditate, and study the word.
Declaration: My children are preserved from any form of snare.

Oil For Today – Day 146
Glory to God. I am strengthened from within. My strength is renewed as I wait on God. This day, I receive strength and power. In my areas of weakness, I receive strength. In my relationship/marriage, I receive strength. I receive the power to make wealth. I receive the power to eat wealth. The joy of the Lord is my strength. Glory to God. I will not lose my joy. I refuse to cooperate with the devil. I choose to praise God till my joy is full. So shall it be for me and all mine, in Jesus name, Amen.
5. Getting married because a pastor or parent said so
Yes, pastors and parents can advise and give a go-ahead. But you also have to be convinced by yourself. Your parent or pastor will not live in the marriage with you. Marry because there is peace, purpose, attraction, and compatibility. Hear God for yourself.
6. Getting married to someone you cannot submit to
Wives are called to ultimately submit to their own husbands. However, submission in marriage is also mutual. Never marry someone you are not ready or willing to submit to.
7. Getting married when you are not ready to love as Christ loves the church
Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered. Kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals, kindly go HERE
Christ is the perfect example of love; the God kind of love that is without selfish motive. If you cannot love sacrificially, don’t marry that person.
8. Getting married just because you are from the same tribe or have things in common
You are not marrying because of your tribe or home town. You are marrying that person because you want to fulfill purpose and destiny together.
9. Getting married because people advised or counsel you to do so
People’s advice and counsel can very well be wrong and misleading. Only God leads well and right. God will not ask the people, He will ask you. Be answerable for your own destiny. Don’t marry solely out of people’s advice.
10. Getting married because of the present alone
Don’t marry a person because of his/her present situation alone. Have deep consideration for his/her future too. Is he rich now but on his way to being poor because he lacks the power to sustain and multiply wealth? That is one of the pertinent questions to ask.
Have a great day!
I was thinking about why they are called magic words. Are they really magical in the use of them or they are merely nursery rhymes, we learnt when growing up?
I believe these words are truly magical. Just as the Bible says that soft answers turn away wrath
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Pro 15:1
In marriage, words are so important because in marriage what we do basically is talk. We express our feeling, our emotions, our thoughts, our insecurities, and all these could either be positive or negative.
Communication is however not complete until what we are saying is understood by the other party. Ninety percent of the quarrels in marriage can and would be avoided if we follow the Bible injunction of using soft answers.
Couples who have mastered the art of speaking in certain ways or using certain phrases in their marriage have been more successful in avoiding strife.
It really works, when my husband and I started saying to ourselves, ‘I cannot fight you, we are one and we are joined together. It helped us better resolve whatever was bothering us.
As insignificant as these words seem, their effects on the hearer work wonders. Remember, God will not come down to help us speak to our spouse. We have to learn the art of being pleasant, speaking calmly, and avoiding harsh words.
Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE
Of course, we are not restricted to just these five words:
1. I am sorry
2. Thank you
3. Please
4. Excuse me
5. Pardon me
We can adapt these words in our different situations. Let learn to stop, calm down before we speak. Don’t let us be rash in our speaking and with our tongue. Let us learn better ways to communicate better.
We can say the same things in several different ways. Let’s also watch our tone and our body language. Respect is important to guys and any form of disrespect, they frown at it immediately.
Dear husband, your wife is an emotional being and they respond to words.
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
Psa 55:21
If your words are kind and soft, you will get a better reaction from her. You cannot get the best from your wife if you keep shouting at her and throwing commands at her as though she is your servant.
Make your marriage better by speaking to yourselves more kindly.
God bless our marriage.
CONFESSION FOR THE DAY I speak with my spouse kindly and respectfully
PRAYER FOR THE DAY I receive help to bridle my tongue
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Pro 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY Register for KHC Couples’ camp meeting.
How can you master the Voice of God? First, you must know that God speaks to everyone including children. Remember the story of little Samuel in the bible, who later became a strong prophet that ministered to the Israelites and anointed kings?
Our heavenly father wants to speak to us and He does so in different ways. One of such way is through His word- the bible. The bible is the only place where all of God’s words reside.
Reading the bible is one of the ways you can hear from God. When you read about what God did, how He did it, and who He did it for, you get to know more about God.
Maybe you are facing a situation and don’t know how to go about it, read the bible. God will speak to you through a verse or chapter. He will direct you to a book where someone just like you, faced the same dilemma you are in.
When you read through, you will learn how the person resolved it with God’s help.
or the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:12 KJV
The bible says His words are living. They are alive, quick, and sharp. Always speaking. See it as God speaking directly to you.
Pastor Poju Oyemade on The Shepherd, The Wolf, The Sheep and The Hireling – The Four Characters That “Play” In The Church Space.
Jesus speaking about the shepherd also tells us about these four principal characters who make up the dynamics of a Church or really any business organization. He said it this way
Joh 10:11-13 (KJV) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. [12] But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. [13] The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
The Good Shepherd
We have the good shepherd whose role is the care giver to the sheep. His business is to make sure the sheep are adequately provided for conveying his responsibilities first and foremost through the words he speaks to them. He feeds them with words of knowledge and understanding and places them in folds for their protection.
His character trait is that he will defend the sheep with his life and reputation. He doesn’t flee at the sight of battle but will rise up to the challenge no matter what the wolf throws at him.
Jer 3:15-16 (KJV) And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. [16] And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land…
The Hireling
The next character is the hireling.
This is a person who gets involved for commercial reasons. He is not really dangerous to the sheep because he is not after them, he seeks not to break the church, in fact, he wants the church doing well but his motives are financial, period.
He is in it for what material gains can come to him. He has no concept of the vision of that place, he will not lay down his life for anyone and his “brand” is more important to him than the future of the kingdom of God. In making decisions money is his bottom line and not the will of God for the people.
The only problem you may have with him is to put your trust in him thinking he will ride with you through thick and thin.
Once he sees a threat and he thinks things may get rough here he jumps ship and looks for the next sheepfold where money can be made in peace.
Misplaced trust in a hireling may lead one to getting heart broken but outside that he is no real threat to the Church. In a business he works for money and will show no understanding of the vision that will make him go an extra mile for the client or customer out of love.

Maximizing Personal Retreats – Apostle Joshua Selman
Whatever God tells you, He can do it. Don’t mind what you see when He’s speaking to you, just take your eyes away and with childlike foolishness, say Lord, I believe
A retreat is part and parcel of the spiritual growth process of a believer.
A retreat is a time when you end and and begin seasons of your life with God, this should not be done in the flesh.
The most spiritual aspect of your lives is when seasons are ending and when seasons are beginning, because this is when satan gets at people.
It is a time when you are exclusively alone with God.
There are certain things that God will not tell you in public, He tells you only when you are alone with Him.
End of year retreat is very important
A retreat should be at least 2 days, one day alone should be dedicated to thanksgiving. Take out time to have personal retreat.
What are the activities that should happen in a retreat?
Thanksgiving – when you thank God, mention things one by one. Your end of year retreat is barren of God’s power without thanksgiving. God never gets tired of people thanking Him.
Don’t be careless with your thanksgiving, forget not His benefits. When you thank Him, mention things one by one. Take out quality time to thank Him.
Review your progress for the current year. Seriously, sincere and unashamedly review the year.
Break your review into 6 different units:
Your spiritual life (passion for God, illumination of the word you have accessed, character) –
What did you know/understand now that you didn’t understand in the previous year. In retreats you must be honest, unashamed and very sincere before God.
Mental development and capacity (did I cooperate with the word of God to develop my mind, did I acquire useful info that will set me on the cutting edge of relevance).
Be able to communicate the life of Christ to your environments.
To be continued.
