The Most Important Ingredient In Marriage

What is really the heart? Is there such a heart that upholds and honors the marriage covenant? How does one get this kind of heart?

The heart is so important that the Bible says out of it flows the issues of life. What we do on the outside reflects what is in the heart.

If the heart is perverted the actions will be perverted. If the heart is far from God, then the actions will be far from God. Make the heart right and the actions will be right also.

Show me the heart that honors the marriage covenant and I will show you a person whose actions honors the marriage covenant.

We should all look into our hearts and by the help of the Holy Spirit, search out what is in our hearts. I pray God will give us a wise and understanding heart today to see the importance of our heart.

In Psalm 51, David knew the importance of the heart and he cried out to God to create in him a new and clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psa 51:10 (KJV)

Let’s stop paying so much attention to our actions and start to pay attention to the very source and root of our actions.

When the heart is right, then we can teach and tutor our hands for right actions.

Let this be our prayer everytime, for God to search our hearts and if there be any guile in us, to purge us and wash us with hyssop. To create in us a new and clean heart, that our actions may be pleasing to God. That we may all begin to honor our marriage covenant and our marriage vows.

That we may esteem our spouse above all else. To crucify the flesh and fight for our marriage upholding the things that are meant for peace and progress in our homes.

It takes a lot of sacrifice. Focusing on our spouse and not allowing any other person’s thought fill our hearts.

The help of God is there to help us but we have to first set our face as a flint to do what is required of us. For God will only do His part, he will not help us set our face as a flint. It takes our decision.

For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

Isa 50:7 (KJV)

May God bless our marriages in Jesus name.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I receive a new heart today.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Oh Lord, set my heart right towards my marriage.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Pray to God for a new heart.

Knowing Your Greatest Asset As A Single

Knowing Your Greatest Asset As A Single

Reading Time: 2 minutes

As a single, your greatest asset is not your hips, tips, boobs, complexion, baritone voice, your looks, skills, degrees, background, wealth, sonorous voice, beauty, or any other physical attribute.

It is your character.

Your character is the real you. Not who you profess to be or what people say you are.
You can never run away from your character.

A Yoruba adage says, your character is like smoke, you can never hide it for too long. It will always surface.

Young ladies, don’t focus on that which is ephemeral.
It is not a big deal to make yourself beautiful.

All you need is some good, quality make-up. A dark-skinned lady can become fair by virtue of the different toning creams available.

A guy can look polished, well packaged with all the six-packs, but really who is he?

A guy may look very responsible and mature, but may not be in actual fact.
Remember looks can be deceptive.

The good news is that you can develop your character.
You can develop a positive character that will add value to you and not make you a liability in marriage.

Nobody is left out of this quest to develop proper winning character. So don’t ever think you are alone or get overwhelmed with developing your character.

As singles, your priority is to put your strength to improve your character.

Some people will adamantly stick to the character flaws and excuse them away.
Some will even pretend and push their negative characters deep down so people will not easily notice.

Whatever negative tendencies you have are to be confronted, dealt with, and replaced with positive ones.

There are a thousand and one character flaws.
Some are very glaring, while others are very subtle and hidden.

Whichever way, every negative character will be brought to full view in marriage no matter how long it takes.

God and His word, with our cooperation can help us to develop positive character.

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered. Kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals, kindly go HERE

Our present character is formed basically by our thoughts.
Our thoughts become our words.
Our words become our actions, our actions become our habits and our habits form our character.

We developed our present character through a process and it will also take a process to unlearn the negative character and develop new ones.

Roms 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Rom 12:2 (KJV)

In other words, we allow God’s word and His Holy Spirit to change our thoughts, which will change our words, which will change our actions, change our habits and then ultimately change our character.

No matter what your character is today, you can change it for good. The earlier you take up this task the better for you.

The character flaws you don’t deal with now as a single will roar at you in marriage.

Whatever bad tendencies you have now can be replaced with goodly and godly character.

As a single, you have no business chasing only funfair while your major course is left unattended. It’s a gross mistake, don’t fall for it.

May God open our eyes more to see these truths.

Don’t Try to Serve a Watery Stew To Your Husband

Don’t Try to Serve a Watery Stew To Your Husband

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Eating is so powerful. If you really want to satisfy your husband, you don’t coon a watery tasteless stew. Even you will not enjoy that food. There is something about a wife and sometimes a husband that knows how to really prepare good food.

Whatever you eat is what you will use to live in your marriage. That is just the reality. You cannot afford to stay starved in marriage.

The short humorous video (extremely funny ) below summarizes what we are looking at this morning. Take a moment to watch it right away

As couples, you have to keep finding what to eat by going to the market and not just some biscuits or nodules every time. This is a responsibility all believers have. When you really want to eat, we are not talking about Golden Morn or nodules. You go for real food when you really want to “jeun soke!”

It is the same in the realm of the spirit. You have to sit down with God’s word and study extensively. You have to eat to your satisfaction. Eating well takes time in preparation. What do you want from God. Sit down and eat!

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE

Refusal to study God’s word can be likened to a watery stew that has no taste. There is nothing to enjoy there. You really want to enjoy your marriage? Then eat well and make sure you and your spouse have spiritual stamina by reason of what you are both eating.

The smell of a food never satisfies until you taste it. Tasting is never like eating. When we hear a revelation on Television or in a conference that blesses us, you have just smelt it, now you need to go home and sit down to really make your own food based on the smell and then cook your own revelation. That is when you really get blessed.

You can’t serve your husband a “smell of a certain food!”

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

Psa 63:5 (KJV)

Dear couples, this is how things work. Let’s get into real business as we eat well concerning areas where we are believing God.

May God grant you more understanding and bless the works of your hands and your marriage today.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I receive the grace to eat well for my marital destiny

PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
Ask for wisdom and understanding for your marriage

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Jeremiah 15:16 (KJV)Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

The Spider Which Entered Into Greatness

The Spider Which Entered Into Greatness

Reading Time: 2 minutes

It’s a lie! A Spider cannot be in the palace. How can you even conceive that? Merely saying it is so disrespectful to royalty. Who granted it entrance? Do you mean it went through the palace guards? How dare such a creature be allowed into the most secured and guarded place?

It can’t just be. Maybe you did not see well, or maybe you are hungry and you are taken by mirage or simply hallucinating. It can’t be! Spider sha? No way!

If you re even talking of a lion in all its strength, we can understand. If you say it’s an elephant, oh that is understandable, for who will dare stop the humongous beast from trampling on where it wants?

But a spider! Ordinary spider. Something I can crush with my leg. Spider ko, spider man ni!

But wow, there it is. The spider is actually in the palace!

How did it enter!

The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.

Pro 30:28 (KJV)

As married couples, you must take hold with your hands and bring something concrete to the table.

Husbands who don’t work or are lazy eventually become docile and end up abdicating their responsibility and alongside their leadership of the home.

Wives who don’t work or are lazy end up becoming liabilities, resorting to being busybodies and gossips. As they say, an idle mind is devil’s workshop.

Don’t get me wrong! There are times you can’t help it and you are simply sacked or just couldn’t get a good job in time.

At such times, you are to stay with your spouse and pray through those times because you know that your spouse is not lazy.

What I am saying is that you can be out of jobs for whatever reason, but never be out of work!

Create work for yourself, and be skillful in the discharge of your gifts. You will eventually find yourself in the palace and in a great place, by taking hold with your hands!

I pray God grants you more understanding.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I am not a lazy man/woman.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Ask for the enablement to use your gifts well.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Psalms 78:72 (KJV) So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Learn a skill.

The Importance Of Family Altar In Marriage

The Importance Of Family Altar In Marriage

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The family altar is where the family consisting of the father, mother, children, and any other person living in the home come together and all look up together to God as their rock of Defence against all the odds in marriage and life.

It is a place of unity, where God is invited to unite the family together. The prayer altar is meant to be a place of sincerity and honesty. Each member of the family should be taught not to approach God’s presence like a superhero but to be vulnerable in His presence.

Each member of the family must be taught to participate enthusiastically in worship, praise, prayer,  confessions, reading the Bible and discussions, since these are the activities done during the family altar.

Now there are many scenarios in different homes and marriages that can debar a proper daily family altar. We have couples who have never had family altar as their family routine before and just want to start.

We have a family where the husband doesn’t like the idea or doesn’t give it much priority or attention.

We have a family where the husband is always busy thus the wife is left to organize the family devotion.

We have a family where it is a headache to get the children to participate.

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE

In other families, the issue of timing is their case. Others yet, it is a disagreement between the couples that forms a hindrance to their family altar.

Whichever group we fall into, we should know that our family devotion is very, very important. The importance of the family altar may not be obvious at the present but it will eventually show.

I grew up with my dad leading the family altar in the morning and evening and we can see the benefits 30 years after in the lives of all of the children. Begin to make efforts to start your family altar now if you have not and you can strengthen your family altar if you already have a family altar.

Let your children be more participative. Let it suit their ages, as you put them into consideration. Let the time of the devotion not be too long to help their concentration.

Let God help you to find what suits the whole family. Work out something that everybody will be comfortable with.

God bless your marriage

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I receive the grace to take my family altar more seriously.

PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
Ask for wisdom and understanding for your marriage

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Prov 11:29 (GW) Whoever brings trouble upon his family inherits only wind, and that stubborn fool becomes a slave to the wise in heart.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Start your family altar
