The Five Magic Words Every Couple Should Know

The Five Magic Words Every Couple Should Know

Reading Time: 2 minutes

I was thinking about why they are called magic words. Are they really magical in the use of them or they are merely nursery rhymes, we learnt when growing up?

I believe these words are truly magical. Just as the Bible says that soft answers turn away wrath

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Pro 15:1

In marriage, words are so important because in marriage what we do basically is talk. We express our feeling, our emotions, our thoughts, our insecurities, and all these could either be positive or negative.

Communication is however not complete until what we are saying is understood by the other party.  Ninety percent of the quarrels in marriage can and would be avoided if we follow the Bible injunction of using soft answers.

Couples who have mastered the art of speaking in certain ways or using certain phrases in their marriage have been more successful in avoiding strife.

It really works, when my husband and I started saying to ourselves, ‘I cannot fight you, we are one and we are joined together. It helped us better resolve whatever was bothering us.

As insignificant as these words seem, their effects on the hearer work wonders. Remember, God will not come down to help us speak to our spouse. We have to learn the art of being pleasant, speaking calmly, and avoiding harsh words.

Of course, we are not restricted to just these five words:

1. I am sorry

2. Thank you

3. Please

4. Excuse me

5. Pardon me

We can adapt these words in our different situations. Let learn to stop, calm down before we speak. Don’t let us be rash in our speaking and with our tongue. Let us learn better ways to communicate better.

We can say the same things in several different ways. Let’s also watch our tone and our body language. Respect is important to guys and any form of disrespect, they frown at it immediately.

Dear husband, your wife is an emotional being and they respond to words.

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

Psa 55:21

If your words are kind and soft, you will get a better reaction from her. You cannot get the best from your wife if you keep shouting at her and throwing commands at her as though she is your servant.

Make your marriage better by speaking to yourselves more kindly.

God bless our marriage.

Knowing Who To Marry – His Handsomeness – Part 2

Knowing Who To Marry – His Handsomeness – Part 2

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We started on this yesterday. If you missed Part 1 yesterday, you can read it HERE

If he can disregard your God, he would disregard you!

Beware of a handsome face sitting upon an ugly heart. The ugliness would eventually extend to the face in no time.

Beware of the handsome man that wants you to compromise your faith in order to satisfy his rush of adrenaline.

Beware of the one that can combine an ugly heart with a handsome face.

Fine man, but he beats his wife!

Handsome man, but irresponsible!

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered. Kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals, kindly go HERE

Lord, give me a spouse handsome within and without.

Lord, give me a spouse beautiful within and without.

I pray for you, God will honor your prayers! You will not regret your actions in Jesus name. You will not spend the major part of your life agonizing and living in pain over a fine face, but ugly heart. God will guide you, lead you and honor you in Jesus name.

You will not miss it!

For those who are already married, God will make your union a beautiful one within and without.

That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:  [13]   That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:  [14]   That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

Psa 144:12-14 (KJV)

So shall it be in Jesus name!

Your home will be blessed. Your children will be blessed. The works of your hands shall be blessed.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I will marry rightly.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Lord, lead me to the right person for me.

Two Important Things Every Wife Should Know

Two Important Things Every Wife Should Know

Two Important Things Every Wife Should Know

Sometimes, our husband hammering on our weakness may be what we need to continually draw us to our knees to talk to God.

Our husbands, most of the time, their aim is never to hurt us but maybe their approach is the best for us based on our temperament.

Whichever way, two things are important:

1. Be wise enough like the old cow to eat the hay and spew the straw.

Look beyond his method and pick his wisdom in correcting you.

Grow beyond the hurt and embrace his wisdom.

2. Be teachable, humble, and meek.

The Pharisees couldn’t benefit from Jesus because they were unteachable and too full of pride. Humbly accept his correction and rebuke.

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE

We all had parents whose approach in dealing with us was not totally correct, but once we accept their method, we are better for it.

So, wives, you are not alone. It’s all part of the package. Sometimes, we may not be appreciated or understood. Never mind, our reward is sure. And you know what? God, Himself is our shield and exceeding great reward.

God bless our marriage.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I am a faithful wife, humble, meek, and teachable

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Lord, help me to humbly receive my husband as my head and submit to him

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Rom 8:28 For we know that all things work together for good for those that love the Lord.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Accept your husband as God’s gift to you

How To Celebrate Yourself In Marriage

How To Celebrate Yourself In Marriage

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yes, you’ve got to celebrate yourself on your way to becoming better. God thinks you are a big deal, so don’t let the devil suggest to you otherwise.

You are very special to God and He loves you so much. Stop focusing on your failures and shortcomings. God understands our frail humanity. He knows our daily struggle against sin and the devil.

God says we should confess and repent of our sins and He will forgive us and remember them no more. He will blot out our sins and it will be like we never committed any sin.

That is good news. No matter how bad we may have been, God forgives and gives us another chance until we get it. God never gives up on us, instead, He celebrates us.

We should learn to enjoy the love, goodness, and mercy of God. A songwriter calls it the ‘overwhelming, never-ending love, reckless love of God. God’s love is so extravagant and reckless.

He pours His love and His power to forgive us in a reckless manner. We should take time to celebrate this love because we are the object of His love. In all of creation, He chose us as the focus of His love.

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE

Celebrate your victories no matter how little they are. Learn to pause and thank God because He has a plan for your life. He is taking you somewhere glorious and He is not done with you.

As you celebrate yourself, it becomes easy for you to celebrate your spouse and what God is doing in their lives as well.

All of us are a work in progress. God does not make failures and so we are sure we are not going to fail.

As you trust God to become better and to move on to maturity in the things of God, celebrate yourself and give thanks to God. This attitude of celebration is needed to keep us going.

God bless our marriage.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I celebrate myself and my spouse and keep rejoicing.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Lord, help me focus on what you are doing in my life.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Ps 139:14[NKJV] I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Look for ten things to celebrate in your life

Twenty Two Things We’ve Learnt In 22 Years – Part 2

Twenty Two Things We’ve Learnt In 22 Years – Part 2

Twenty Two Things We’ve Learnt In 22 Years – Part 2

My husband wrote the first part of this devotional yesterday. I will be concluding on the other part this morning.

And guess what? Today is my birthday! God has been faithful to me.

Let’s get into the devotional….

If you missed the first part “Twenty Two Things We’ve Learnt In 22 Years” written by my husband yesterday, you can read HERE

1. Marriage is done by the mercy of God

Rom 9:16  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

There is a part where you work at it from both end, but at the end of the day, it is wise to constantly surround your marriage with the mercy of God.

2. Marriage is highly spiritual.
You must engage in all spiritual activities in other to stay at par. Marriage can often be warfare and you have to be prepared for it.

3. You have to be a woman of prayer
You cannot afford to be prayerless. A prayerless wife is a careless wife. The devil is out to ruin marriages. Learn to wake up at night to pray as well.

4. Learn to let go of issues. Don’t enforce your right.
Be flexible. This goes for husband and wife. You have to close your eyes and ears to certain things.

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE

5. Be quick to forgive and don’t be revengeful.
Be a quick forgiver. Marriage is all about forgiving 7 X 70 times! Practice advanced forgiveness

6. Be free to express your true feelings
Be ready and willing to express your true feelings, and the spouse should allow for expression of true feelings.

7. Laugh at each other and laugh with each other
Laugher is like medicine, so says the Bible. Let your home be filled with laughter.

8. Be an open book. No secrets
Be open about everything. Don’t keep secrets.

9. Don’t insist on your own opinions. Respect each other.
Respect is mutual in marriage. Your wife has things to offer.

10. Be a helper. Be supportive, submissive and be ready and willing to make sacrifices

11. Always seek to keep your love ablaze

Have a great day!

God bless your marriage.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I celebrate my spouse today and always

PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
Oh Lord, increase my passion for my lover.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
1 Corinthians 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
