Little one, you are special! What does it mean to be chosen? The word “chosen” signifies being set apart for a reason. And how are people chosen? People are chosen on account of certain attributes they have. Things like a good character, telling the truth, humility and discipline make people to be chosen.
Let’s look at the verse in Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work. I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5 ICB
This was God speaking to the prophet Jeremiah. The Lord chose Jeremiah by o speak to the children of Israel. These people were very stubborn and disobeyed God many times. God sent Jeremiah to them with warnings to turn from their wayward ways.
Look at the first part of the verse–Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you… God created everyone and before we were even put in our mother’s womb. You were already alive before God put you in her womb.
God has seen everything about you and decided to call you for His own. That’s why He chose you for that.
If God chooses you to do something, it means you are very special to Him. That there is a particular work God has for you.
Look well at this verse and meditate on it. Declare it over and over, personalize the words and believe. There is something special about you and God wants to use the special gift He has given you for the good of His kingdom here on earth.
Why do you need to meet with God? The reasons are many and can never be overemphasized, nor are they clichés. Let’s see a few.
1. God created you and only He can provide His reason for creating you
Facebook is a social media platform created by its founder to help people connect socially online. So also God created everything and everyone for a reason. As you read the word of God regularly, you will begin to understand the reason behind your existence, know if you are living according to your purpose of existence and if not, how to start walking in that purpose.
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. – Jer 1:5, KJV
2. Time spent with God increases your spiritual muscles
Constantly being in God’s presence is one way to deal with the move of the flesh. You put the flesh under the check of the spirit. Learn to meet with God.
3. Helps you know what matters to God
Spending time with God reveals to you what truly matters to Him. God cares about people a lot. He doesn’t want anyone to perish and wants you to tell people about Him.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16, KJV
4. You get an understanding of your identity as a child of God and the type of God you serve.
You are the child of a King – a mighty king, who made the earth so beautiful and full of many wonderful things for your benefit.
May the Lord reveal Himself more to you at every meeting time. Amen.
Prayer: God, thank you for the benefits of spending time with you. Help me spend more time with you and at every meeting time, reveal more of you to me. Amen in Jesus name.
Action point: Think of other benefits of being in God’s presence. Which do you like the most?
Declaration: I am decided for Jesus. I spend quality time in his presence.
Today, we would be looking at how to believe the Word Of God. In some parts of the bible, we find places where the author writes “…saith the Lord.”
And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
Ex 4:22 KJV
At other places, God Himself speaks, saying “I will…”
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isa 43:19 KJV
These are words that tell us about the promises and power of God.
When you come across such phrases in the bible, what comes to your mind? Do you think these words are still applicable today? Is God still saying “I will?” Are the words written by those writers still in effect? Do they mean that God is still saying?
Everything written in the bible is still as powerful as they were in bible times. God is still saying the same thing. His promises are continuous. He hasn’t changed. Nothing about Him has and never will.
When next you come across such words, believe that God is still saying them to you and everyone. If it is a place where God made a promise, claim it for yourself and others. That is how to believe and enjoy His promises. He even tells us that He honours His words more than His name.
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Ps 138:2 KJV
He wants us to believe in Him and His words. We are greatly rewarded when we do so.
What a wonderful God we serve!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your words are still the same. They are eternal and powerful. I claim every promise you made to me even before I was born. I am grateful in Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
Action plan: Try to find two instances each for where a writer records, “…says the Lord” and God saying “I will.” Read the full chapters and meditate on them.
Declaration: My children are studious. They read, study, and meditate on God’s word daily.
It is amazing that there are many unrealistic, funny, and illogical reasons why people often get married. A lot of people don’t have the slightest idea of what marriage entails. People get married when they are not fully prepared for it.
These ten reasons will help differentiate the right reasons and wrong reasons for getting married. The list is not exhaustive, but will at least help you to some extent.
1. Getting married because of pity
This is a wrong reason to want to get married to someone. Marriage is a covenant journey that requires mutual agreement, commitment, and willingness of both parties involved. Marriage should never be out of pity. You don’t marry because you want to help or solve someone’s problems. It has never worked and will never work.
2. Getting married because you feel you don’t have any other option.
Some ladies feel helpless and feel they don’t have any other option than to marry a particular person. Nothing can be far from the truth than this. Yes, you have many other options. Allow God to lead you, He won’t lead you wrong. Putting yourself in a tight corner and getting married blindly when all the dangers are explicit enough is not the way to go.

3. Getting married because you don’t want to break someone’s heart.
It is better there is a broken heart that can be healed than for there to be a broken, unfulfilled life and an unaccomplished destiny. A broken heart is way still better than a broken life. May your life not be broken in Jesus name.
4. Getting married because God said so.
You need to hear God as well. God is the ultimate authority, but you have to also be in agreement with God’s decision. You have to love the person with your whole heart in addition to God leading you and telling you the right person to marry.
You find some people say they are marrying a certain person they really detest, because God said so. God will never lead you wrong. God is not an author of confusion. He will not lead you to someone that you loathe and hate.
May God grant you more understanding.
To be continued tomorrow…
CONFESSION FOR THE DAY I will marry rightly. I will not marry for the wrong reasons.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY Lord, lead me to the right person for me.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Isaiah 30:21 [KJV] And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
