Benefits of Having Wisdom – Part 2

Benefits of Having Wisdom – Part 2

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hello, young “wisdom Scholar” it’s been an exciting time of learning from the King, Solomon. Without doubts, it’s been wisdom all the way.

Let’s pick up from where we spotted yesterday, shall we?

…understanding shall keep thee: To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: -Proverbs 2:11b -15 (KJV)

The bible says once you have wisdom, understanding will keep you.

Understanding implies being able to process wisdom in a way that becomes simple to you.

It’s important that you not only know wisdom but also understand what you have learnt, so you can apply it to your everyday life.

What will this do for you?

1. It will keep you from evil people, just like the bible says. It will keep you from ungodly friends and people that will make you do evil things.

2. It will also deliver you from a person that lies and speaks evil of other people; like gossip.

3. Wisdom keeps you on the path of uprightness, where you do what is right at all times.

4. It will prevent you from walking in darkness; that means you will walk in the light of God’s word always.

5. Wisdom will help you recognize the kind of friends you shouldn’t associate with.

This is enough reason to search for wisdom as God’s children, and how can we get this wisdom? It’s by reading and meditating on the word of God –the Bible– all the time.

Make a commitment today as children, to always read your bibles and listen to your parents. Obey God’s word, and what your Mom and Dad tell you all the time, this is what proves that you have learned wisdom and have understood it.

PRAYER:
Father in Jesus name, help me to obey your word and my parents always. Amen

ACTION PLAN:
Choose to always obey every instruction given to you by your parents

DECLARATION:
I am wise, I understand wisdom, and I know the right thing to do at all times.

Benefits of Having Wisdom

Benefits of Having Wisdom

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hi Champ, it’s another exciting time to dig into God’s word. Let’s look at the benefits of having wisdom. There is a lot to learn from the wise king, Solomon.

It’s always exciting to read the book of Proverbs. Let’s learn something new today!

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: Proverbs 2:10-15 (KJV)

In our verses today, King Solomon identified for us one of the reasons we should be wise and have wisdom.

First of all, he identifies for us where wisdom should be located in our lives. The wise King says wisdom should be in our hearts.

This means that, beyond knowing what God’s words say, we should also put it in our hearts and live by God’s principles

He also tells us that knowledge should be pleasant to us. You know how you feel when mummy comes home with a bowl of ice cream? That’s how you should feel about knowledge!

What happens when we have wisdom in our hearts and knowledge is pleasant to us?

The Bible says;

1. Discretion will preserve you.

Do you know what Discretion is?
It is the ability to always think things through and act in the right way.

Everyone needs discretion in their lives, especially children of God like you and I.

This is because we should always seek to please God. If that’s our aim, then we have to carefully think through what we do, this is because our decisions matter at all time, and how we decide to do what we do matters as well.

To be continued…

Prayer:
Oh Lord, help me to be wise. Amen.

Action point:
Read your Bible.

Declaration:
I am wise in all my ways.

The Wise Words of King Solomon – Part 3

The Wise Words of King Solomon – Part 3

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hello precious child, there is something interesting for you to learn here today. We are continuing with the wise words of king Solomon from the book of proverbs.

Our verse for today is

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. – Proverbs 2:3-7

This verse talks about the importance of searching for wisdom and how we as God’s children should seek after wisdom.

Our study verse first of tells us that if you and I want to be wise, we can’t just sit and wish to be wise, we have to seek for it, look for it, search for it, and that’s how we get knowledge and be wise children.

See the words used in this verses, the Bible says;

1. We should cry after knowledge

2.We should lift up our voice for understanding.

3.We should look for it as silver

4.We should search for it like an hidden treasure.

All these words are powerful.

It means we have to actively do some certain things to be wise, our effort is need to get wisdom.

The Bible says, until we look for wisdom, we won’t find it.

When we seek to be wise, that’s when we will find wisdom.

How will this happen?

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. – Proverbs 2:6-7

God will give it to us, and he gives it out of his mouth. This means through his words, and words are found in the Bible
How interesting is that?

God had laid up wisdom for us in the Bible, these words are to guide and direct our everyday lives.

All we need to do is read his word like searching for treasures, that’s how to get wise dear.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I receive the grace to search the word of God like treasures in Jesus name. Amen.

ACTION PLAN:
Read your Bible today.

DECLARATION:

Dear Child, Who Are Your Friends –Part 2

Dear Child, Who Are Your Friends –Part 2

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hello dear, yesterday we began a topic on companions (your friends), a continuation of lessons from the famous King Solomon.

I was able to identify for you the kind of people the king called bad companions. I told you they are people who try to get you involved in things that will not please God and your parents.

You also have to be careful not to be that kind of friend to your friends; don’t be a bad companion to those around you.

I also told you that, these bad companions are not necessarily your age mates, they could be people older than you, so you have to be careful not to listen to people because they are older, first of all, be sure that whatsoever they are asking you to do is not against the will of God and that of your parents.

Let’s continue with our bible verse of yesterday.

Dear friend, if bad companions tempt you, don’t go along with them. If they say — “Let’s go out and raise some hell. Let’s beat up some old man, mug some old woman. Let’s pick them clean and get them ready for their funerals.  We’ll load up on top-quality loot. We’ll haul it home by the truckload. Join us for the time of your life! With us, it’s share and share alike!” — Oh, friend, don’t give them a second look; don’t listen to them for a minute. They’re racing to a very bad end, hurrying to ruin everything they lay hands on. Nobody robs a bank with everyone watching, yet that’s what these people are doing — they’re doing themselves in. When you grab all you can get, that’s what happens: the more you get, the less you are.  –Proverbs 1:10-20 (MSG)

King Solomon was helpful; he already told us the behaviour of these people, let’s analyze this verse to see them ourselves.

1. Let’s go out and raise some hell.

Anyone who tells you to make trouble or do things that disturb other people is a bad companion.

2. Let’s beat up some old man, mug some old woman.

Be careful of people who bring up ideas to disrespect or treat elderly people badly, run away from such people.

3. Let’s pick them clean and get them ready for their funerals.

Don’t listen to whoever asks you to take what doesn’t belong to you and hurt other people. Causing pain isn’t the will of God, and your parents will not be proud to find out you were involved in such either.

4. Join us for the time of your life!

Do not listen to anyone who promises you fun outside of God’s word; it’s all a lie of the devil. Whatever fun that your parents aren’t aware of is going to get you in trouble. Be sure to always tell mum, and Dad the truth of where ever you go.

Finally, King Solomon tells us the end of such people, it’s all trouble and regrets. Choose your companions wisely, and let Mum, and Dad know your friend and what you do together.

PRAYER:
Father in the name of Jesus, I pray for wisdom to recognize bad companions in Jesus name. Amen.

ACTION PLAN:
Decide to let go of every bad companion today

DECLARATION:
I am a child of God, I will not be a bad companion to those around me. I keep good friends in Jesus name.

Dear Child, Who Are Your Friends?

Dear Child, Who Are Your Friends?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hello dear child, who are your friends? Today we’ll be continuing our lesson from King Solomon from the book of Proverbs.

Today I want to talk to you about keeping bad company, it’s important that as God’s children we should be around the right people, King Solomon didn’t leave this out when he was instructing us.

See what he says here;

Wow, he took his time to speak about this in ten verses! Let’s pick them one by one!

If bad friends tempt you, do not go with them. Do you know who bad friends are?

They are the ones that tell you to do things God will not be happy about; friends that make you disobey your parents and elders. Those are bad friends king Solomon is talking about.

They are everywhere and you have to beware of them, you’ll find them in your neighborhood, in school, and even in church. These people can be old or young as you, it doesn’t matter the age.

That’s why King Solomon summed these persons up as companions, as long as they are around you, they are companions and you have to stay clear of them.

It’s very easy to recognize them; anyone that gives you ideas outside the will of God is a bad companion.

To be continued…
