Jehovah Rohi: “The Lord is my Shepherd”

Jehovah Rohi: “The Lord is my Shepherd”

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Today we will be looking at Jehovah Rohi – The Lord is my Shepherd. A shepherd guides a flock of sheep through different terrains. He ensures that they eat from the best vegetation around them and protects them from any harm.

The sheep also trust in the Shepherd to protect and provide for them. They know nothing about where the best grasses are or where danger persists. That is why they trust their Shepherd.

God’s unique name – Jehovah Rohi, shows you another dimension from which He operates. This is the area where He shows Himself as a Protector and Provider.

From the abundance of His heart and might, He provides for all our needs. Whatever they are, God is able to meet them all. Just like He is Elohim, the Eternal Creator, He is also the Shepherd who meets all of your needs.

He also is the One who protects you from all harm. The Shepherd will always fight off any predator who wants to harm the sheep. He won’t leave any stone unturned to ensure that the sheep are safe.

When you pray to the Lord as your Shepherd (Jehovah Rohi), this calls on God to reveal Himself as both a provider and a protector.

Like the Psalmist said in

Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd. I have everything I need.” ICB.

When you read the whole of Psalm twenty-three, you will see how the Psalmist totally expressed his total dependence and trust in Jehovah Rohi. He trusted God for protection, provision, and peace of mind.

God sees you when things are good and bad and is always ready to help you. He knows what to do and how to do it.

Psalm 37:18-19 “The Lord knoweth the days of the upright and their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the day of famine they shall be satisfied.”

Pray and call Him Jehovah Rohi. Let Him be your Provider and Protector.
Jehovah Rohi protects and provides for you. Amen.

Prayer:
Jehovah Rohi, thank you for providing and protecting me always. I am grateful for your care always.

Praying With The Names of God – Elohim

Praying With The Names of God – Elohim

Reading Time: 2 minutes

One of the names of God is ELOHIM – the Eternal Creator.

Elohim was in existence before all things. He was before time and seasons. The One existing before the creation of the world, man, and everything. That is one of the things this name of God represents. He is the One that existed before all things, and is the Creator of all things… but was created by no one.

Gen. 1:1 “In the beginning God (Elohim) created (from nothing) the heavens and the earth.” AMP.

This tells you how old God is – even before the creation of the earth. He is the One that thought up light, animals, the seas, plants, the sky, day and night, man, et cetera.

Elohim not only thought them but created them out of nothing as we read earlier and with just by saying “Let there be…” Therefore God thought them up, then spoke them into being. That’s the God we serve.

Dear child, the God you serve is older than the earth you walk on, the air inside your lungs, what you eat, the sun and moon in the sky, and so on. Yes, allow that to sink into your innermost being. I will say it again: Dear child, the God you serve is older than the earth you walk on, the air inside your lungs, what you eat, the sun and moon in the sky, and so on.

He created the world out of His eternal love for you.

Elohim created it because He had the power, knowledge, and resources to do so.

He created it so you can worship Him.

So, today, call Him Elohim – the Eternal Creator.

Prayer:
Elohim, I thank you for being my God. I praise you for your might and power. Give me the creative ability to create like you, in Jesus name. Amen.

Praying With The Names of God

Praying With The Names of God

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Everyone has names. Your name is a reflection of the relationship between you and another person. You call your mother “mommy” because that is who she is to you – your mother.  She refers to you as her son because she gave birth to you. There is a mother-son relationship between you two.

God, also, has other names.  Did I hear you say what? Yeah, He does. You call Him God, Jehovah, Yahweh, Almighty, and more. But there are also very special ways we refer to God.

These other names tell us about the unique qualities that God possesses.  They tell us of the many different dimensions of how God operates. Like a car has different parts and each part contributes to how we identify a car.

God has different names that reflect His many attributes as the creator of all the earth and mankind. Each name speaks to a part of Him that we see or want to see in operation in our lives.

When you call Him by one of these names, it draws out a part of His essence, something unique and powerful about Him. You are calling Him to be that which you have called Him to be.

Knowing and calling Him these names help you develop a deeper relationship with Him. You marvel and wonder at how great and mighty He is.

Also, you get to depend on Him and not on your strength, intelligence, power, skills, or social standing. When you identify Him as your helper, provider, keeper, friend, et cetera., it helps to put your total trust in Him.

Lastly, these names of God reveal deeper worship of Him. You just get lost in the amazing greatness of Him, His name, and Word.

These names remind you of who God is and can be for and to you. Your God can be anything and everything you want Him to be. He wants to display His power and sovereignty for you.

Tomorrow we will start the series and see the many ways God displays His power and might through His names.

God bless you. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, I am glad that I have other names to call you. Help me know these and use them.

How To Make Your Grandparents Happy

How To Make Your Grandparents Happy

Reading Time: 2 minutes

You should learn how to make your grandparents happy. As soon as Daniel’s grandma saw him, she began to shake her head. His hair was uncombed, his shirt unbuttoned down to his chest and he had no belt around his trousers. The trousers were sagging to his thighs and he kept pulling them up.

Are you sure your grandparents have happy thoughts when they think of you or heavy thoughts filled with fear for you?

The bible says that

Grandchildren are the reward of old people. And children are proud of their parents Prov. 17:6 ICB.

Did you see that? This shows that grandparents will love to see their grandchildren make the best of their lives. So you should learn to make your grandparents happy.

Live in a way that makes your grandparents proud of you; this will make your grandparents happy.

When grandparents see their grandchild living the right way, it is a source of joy for them. It gives them a feeling that they have once more raised a child the right way.

When your grandparents see you, they should be filed with joy.
Do not live your life in such a way that will cut short their lives.

Remember, they were once like you many decades ago, so if they give you an instruction, it is wise that you follow through. Following the instructions of your grandparents will make your grandparents happy.

So, check your lifestyle and ask if your grandparents would like the way you are living now.

Are you a reward for them?

May God make you bring happiness to your grandparents. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, I want to live in a way that would bring much joy to my grandparents.

Action point:
What things about you do you think your grandparents wouldn’t like? Put away those things so as to make your grandparents happy.

How Your Children Can Praise The Lord

How Your Children Can Praise The Lord

Reading Time: 2 minutes

How often do you praise the Lord? During family devotions in the mornings? On the assembly ground at school? Sunday school?

Psalm 145:1 “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Everyday I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.”

You must have a personal time where you praise the Lord . There are so many ways to do this. Some ways are:

1. Reading psalms of praise from the bible.
2. Play and sing along to praise songs.
3. Sing from your heart praise songs.
4. Write love letters to God telling Him how much You love Him.
5. Write poems of praise.

When you praise the Lord, you are exalting Him over everything and everyone in all the earth and heaven. You are acknowledging Him as your Lord. God enjoys our praises. He delights in them, and he wants us to continually praise Him.

Only God deserves your praise. Make it a daily habit of praising God. You don’t have to spend long hours at it unless you are led to do so. And ensure that the time you have put aside for praising God is used for that. Don’t allow distractions.

Focus on God and His mightiness and splendor. He wants to hear you praise Him always. It is a good thing to praise the LORD! And it’s something you should learn to do always. Praise the Lord!

God bless you and receive your praises. Amen .

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for receiving my praises. You are the Almighty God. The Lord highest. I praise You with all my being. Help me to always praise You. Amen.

Action points:
Praise the Lord for some time today. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you new ways to praise God.
