Every once in a while, every husband and wife needs these three things. It basically takes care of most of the needs we have.

My husband is very busy and I’m sometimes amazed at how he joggles many things together. The mere fact that he never went to any computer school nor had any formal training and he knows so much keeps me amazed.

He designs the KHC website and other sites and manages all our outfit online including our podcasts. Sometimes, he has to research all by himself for days and sometimes burn the night candle to get things done.

He also has a church to take care of, bills to pay and a family to look after. He also has stay at the cutting edge of ministry which involves a lot of prayers and studying God’s word.

As his wife, I have to provide the most conducive environment for him to function at an ultimate level, avoid strife and be very understanding.

I most confess here, I do fall short of my responsibilities at times, but thank God for His Spirit and Grace that always helps me.

My husband has to teach me and tell me how important my support is to him.

I also feel we are meant to create the support system our spouses need. Husbands to wives and wives to husbands, we all need these support systems if not, the purpose of marriage is defeated.

Tomorrow, I would share just three of these support we can give each other at any given time.

My Children Are Preserved

My children are preserved. God is in the business of preserving and protecting. Part of His promise to us is to be with us in trouble.

More specifically, he wants to preserve us, especially our children, from the snares of death.

One way children can make this happen is by fearing the Lord.


The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.

Proverbs 14:27 ESV

Like we read in the scripture above, the fear of the Lord is paramount to our daily living.

When you have the fear of God, you will turn away from the snare of death.

That is, when you put the fear of God in your heart by studying and meditating on God’s word and obeying all instructions, you will be lead by God and preserved from any form of snare.

Children, decide to do it God’s way.
Follow God, follow the bible and watch how God will stand up for you.

Prayer:
Lord, preserve my children in Jesus name. Amen

5. Getting married because a pastor or parent said so

Yes, pastors and parents can advise and give a go-ahead. But you also have to be convinced by yourself. Your parent or pastor will not live in the marriage with you. Marry because there is peace, purpose, attraction, and compatibility. Hear God for yourself.

6. Getting married to someone you cannot submit to

Wives are called to ultimately submit to their own husbands. However, submission in marriage is also mutual. Never marry someone you are not ready or willing to submit to.

7. Getting married when you are not ready to love as Christ loves the church

Christ is the perfect example of love; the God kind of love that is without selfish motive. If you cannot love sacrificially, don’t marry that person.

8. Getting married just because you are from the same tribe or have things in common

You are not marrying because of your tribe or home town. You are marrying that person because you want to fulfill purpose and destiny together.

9. Getting married because people advised or counsel you to do so

People’s advice and counsel can very well be wrong and misleading. Only God leads well and right. God will not ask the people, He will ask you. Be answerable for your own destiny. Don’t marry solely out of people’s advice.

10. Getting married because of the present alone

Don’t marry a person because of his/her present situation alone. Have deep consideration for his/her future too. Is he rich now but on his way to being poor because he lacks the power to sustain and multiply wealth? That is one of the pertinent questions to ask.

The Five Magic Words Every Couple Should Know

I was thinking about why they are called magic words. Are they really magical in the use of them or they are merely nursery rhymes, we learnt when growing up?

I believe these words are truly magical. Just as the Bible says that soft answers turn away wrath

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Pro 15:1

In marriage, words are so important because in marriage what we do basically is talk. We express our feeling, our emotions, our thoughts, our insecurities, and all these could either be positive or negative.

Communication is however not complete until what we are saying is understood by the other party.  Ninety percent of the quarrels in marriage can and would be avoided if we follow the Bible injunction of using soft answers.

Couples who have mastered the art of speaking in certain ways or using certain phrases in their marriage have been more successful in avoiding strife.

It really works, when my husband and I started saying to ourselves, ‘I cannot fight you, we are one and we are joined together. It helped us better resolve whatever was bothering us.

As insignificant as these words seem, their effects on the hearer work wonders. Remember, God will not come down to help us speak to our spouse. We have to learn the art of being pleasant, speaking calmly, and avoiding harsh words.

Of course, we are not restricted to just these five words:

1. I am sorry

2. Thank you

3. Please

4. Excuse me

5. Pardon me

We can adapt these words in our different situations. Let learn to stop, calm down before we speak. Don’t let us be rash in our speaking and with our tongue. Let us learn better ways to communicate better.

We can say the same things in several different ways. Let’s also watch our tone and our body language. Respect is important to guys and any form of disrespect, they frown at it immediately.

Dear husband, your wife is an emotional being and they respond to words.

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

Psa 55:21

If your words are kind and soft, you will get a better reaction from her. You cannot get the best from your wife if you keep shouting at her and throwing commands at her as though she is your servant.

Make your marriage better by speaking to yourselves more kindly.

How can you master the Voice of God? First, you must know that God speaks to everyone including children. Remember the story of little Samuel in the bible, who later became a strong prophet that ministered to the Israelites and anointed kings?

Our heavenly father wants to speak to us and He does so in different ways. One of such way is through His word- the bible. The bible is the only place where all of God’s words reside.

Reading the bible is one of the ways you can hear from God. When you read about what God did, how He did it, and who He did it for, you get to know more about God.

Maybe you are facing a situation and don’t know how to go about it, read the bible. God will speak to you through a verse or chapter.  He will direct you to a book where someone just like you, faced the same dilemma you are in.

When you read through, you will learn how the person resolved it with God’s help.

or the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Heb 4:12 KJV

The bible says His words are living. They are alive, quick, and sharp. Always speaking. See it as God speaking directly to you.

Here Are Ten Wrong Reasons For Getting Married

It is amazing that there are many unrealistic, funny, and illogical reasons why people often get married. A lot of people don’t have the slightest idea of what marriage entails. People get married when they are not fully prepared for it.

These ten reasons will help differentiate the right reasons and wrong reasons for getting married. The list is not exhaustive, but will at least help you to some extent.

1. Getting married because of pity

This is a wrong reason to want to get married to someone. Marriage is a covenant journey that requires mutual agreement, commitment, and willingness of both parties involved. Marriage should never be out of pity. You don’t marry because you want to help or solve someone’s problems. It has never worked and will never work.

2. Getting married because you feel you don’t have any other option.

Some ladies feel helpless and feel they don’t have any other option than to marry a particular person. Nothing can be far from the truth than this. Yes, you have many other options. Allow God to lead you, He won’t lead you wrong. Putting yourself in a tight corner and getting married blindly when all the dangers are explicit enough is not the way to go.

3. Getting married because you don’t want to break someone’s heart.

It is better there is a broken heart that can be healed than for there to be a broken, unfulfilled life and an unaccomplished destiny. A broken heart is way still better than a broken life. May your life not be broken in Jesus name.

4. Getting married because God said so.

You need to hear God as well. God is the ultimate authority, but you have to also be in agreement with God’s decision. You have to love the person with your whole heart in addition to God leading you and telling you the right person to marry.

You find some people say they are marrying a certain person they really detest, because God said so. God will never lead you wrong. God is not an author of confusion. He will not lead you to someone that you loathe and hate.

May God grant you more understanding.

1. Focus on the blessings of being married

Just because you have a headache is not enough reason you should wish your head were cut off. We all know that the benefits of having a head sitting on your neck far outweigh having a headache.

2. Take time out when you notice a burnout

A burnout could mean that you are driving yourself hard too much and need to slow down a bit. Taking time to relax could be as often as daily and as simple as laying down on your bed undisturbed with your favorite music, doing something you love or simply, having thanksgiving. You will surely feel refreshed, especially in your marriage.

3.  Enjoy your own spouse and children

Learn to enjoy yourself with your family and you will see the feeling of being overwhelmed will go. Learn to laugh and play, and your joy will return. You will find your strength renewed and find new reasons to love again.

4. Thanksgiving

It is high time we know that thanksgiving brings God’s presence. We make warfare with our thanks. Thanksgiving opens doors to the heavenlies.

Depressive feelings are often entering point or invitation to demonic operations that are responsible for draining our strength.

The Bible actually put it like this, ‘The joy of the Lord is our strength’.

What is God’s stand on judging others? There have been times when you have been so quick to judge someone without thinking before you do so. Within seconds you form an opinion of them. But Jesus warns against the dangers of doing so.

“Don’t judge other people, and you will not be judged. Don’t accuse others of being guilty, and you will not be accused of being guilty. Forgive other people, and you will be forgiven.

Luke 6:37 ICB.

You see one of your classmates with a dirty uniform and quickly you call him or her “dirty”. Well, you might not say it to their face, but in your heart you say it and it shows on your face too. You look disgusted and act snobbishly towards the person. You don’t know what happened to the person. He could have slipped and fallen down hence the dirty uniform. Or he could have been attacked by a group of bullies who roughened him up.

Or you have a classmate who fails terribly at school in exams and tests. Calling her dumb and “empty head” is judging her based on her academic prowess. You don’t know what’s happening at home with her parents. Probably she doesn’t have time to study at home because she helps her mother at their little shop. Unlike you whose parents are not selling anything!

The bottom line is this – don’t jump to conclusions about people because you don’t know what happened to them. That’s why Jesus warns that you shouldn’t judge people.

May the Holy Spirit give you a heart that loves instead of judging. Amen

Sometimes, our husband hammering on our weakness may be what we need to continually draw us to our knees to talk to God.

Our husbands, most of the time, their aim is never to hurt us but maybe their approach is the best for us based on our temperament.

Whichever way, two things are important:

1. Be wise enough like the old cow to eat the hay and spew the straw.

Look beyond his method and pick his wisdom in correcting you.

Grow beyond the hurt and embrace his wisdom.

2. Be teachable, humble, and meek.

The Pharisees couldn’t benefit from Jesus because they were unteachable and too full of pride. Humbly accept his correction and rebuke.

We all had parents whose approach in dealing with us was not totally correct, but once we accept their method, we are better for it.

So, wives, you are not alone. It’s all part of the package. Sometimes, we may not be appreciated or understood. Never mind, our reward is sure. And you know what? God, Himself is our shield and exceeding great reward.

What do you do when you are confused? Do you praise God? What do you do when you don’t know what to do? What do you do when things seem to have gone out of place?

See what the psalmist said

Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Ps 150:2

Just as the psalmist said, we should learn to praise God. We can focus on one of his deeds and thank him for it.

Praise him for his mighty acts. The formation of your child is a mighty act on its own. The intricate intertwining of the bones, intestines, different systems in the body et cetera, should spur you to praise God on their behalf.

Praise him for his acts of power, praise him for his magnificent greatness;

Psalm 150:2

Let’s not only praise God but encourage our children to praise as well. No child is too small to do that.

This morning, do you have a song in your heart? Sing unto Him and praise Him for His goodness.

PRAYER:
Help my children to praise you always oh Lord; Amen

ACTION PLAN:
Go ahead and sing a song unto God.

DECLARATION:
I will praise God. My children will praise God. My family will praise God.

She woke up with a start. Impulsively and almost uncontrollably, she bellowed “the blood of Jesus!” His face scared her a little. She had forgotten she got married a day before!

I want a handsome man! He has to be fine!

I want a TDH – Tall, Dark, and Handsome!

Yes, all these are okay, handsome men are cool.

Besides, who wants to marry a man that makes you scream “the blood of Jesus” when you wake up in the morning as you behold his face?

You want to wake up in the morning, take a look at his face, and be filled with the Holy Ghost afresh, burst out in singing in tongues! Isn’t that more wonderful?

However, handsomeness is not only about the face, but also about the heart!

What is the point of a handsome face sitting upon a wicked heart? And yet, this has been the lot of not a few.

There are handsome men that are wicked. There are handsome men that are cheats. There are handsome men that are evil. There are handsome men that are rapists. There are handsome men that are adulterers.

But there are handsome men that are good men and faithful men. That is what you should pray for, that is what you should trust God for, that is what you should aspire for, and that is what you should settle for.

The face is the pulchritude, the heart is the hidden man. Find out about the hidden man before you fall in love with the face.

His behaviors will not come from his handsome face, they would take source from the heart.

Beware of the heart that despises God. Never fall in love with such hearts. Beware of the heart that mocks God. Beware of the heart that belittles your God. Beware of the heart that disregards your God

Do These Things And Make Your Spouse Happy

1. Accept your spouse and never attempt to change him/her. 

If one has to be happy, one must make up one’s mind, that no matter what, I must keep my joy in place.

Some marriages are very problematic and require extra effort to stay happy.

All in all, every marriage has its own peculiar problem and each one has to do certain things just to stay and remain happy.

2. Be contented with whatever you have per time

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

1Ti 6:6  KJV

Bible says there is great gain in being content, with being godly. Why? Because with your godliness, your situation will eventually change for the better.

You may start out with your spouse from not enough, not being able to afford the basic necessities of life, just hold on to the Lord. Most of the great men of God you see today had stories of humble beginnings.

Be content with your husband or wife’s temperament. Know that her weaknesses are good for you because the other temperament you admire so much, also has a weakness you will never be able to cope with.

3. Find a reason to laugh every day

No matter what life throws at you, laugh. I know it is easier said than done. Life has to be approached by doing what has to be done no matter whether it is convenient or not.

A good hearty laugh is a healthy medicine.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Pro 17:22 KJV

4. Be grateful and thankful that you have a family

One of the things that keep anyone happy is having a grateful attitude.

The truth of the matter is that you will have more things to thank God for than you can ever imagine. Take time out to be thankful for yourself, your spouse, and all the so-called ‘little victories’ you have.

Be grateful for each day. The gift of life, for the air you breadth and all the things we so take for granted.

5. Forgive your spouse easily

Not forgiving is like drinking poison and expecting the other person that offended you to die. This will never happen. The effect of the poison will always be on the one who drank the poison,

Learn to forgive easily and quickly. Not forgive and then hold your spouse in strife and malice and don’t talk to your spouse again.

Marriage is for two great forgivers. When you forgive you are lighter in your spirit and happier because you can have a free flow of the spirit and then you enjoy the joy of salvation.

Wisdom, understanding, and peace can also access your spirit when you are void of unforgiveness.

Do these five things and you will see that you are a more happy person. Not that your situation will change immediately, but you will have peace with yourself.

He Has Good Plans For You

Yes, God has good plans for you. Have you sometimes tried to figure out what your parents have in mind?

Have you also noticed that most of the time, your parents always meet your needs, at least to a large extent?

That’s how much our parents have us in mind, how much more our Father in heaven.

Children, the Lord knew you before you were formed and He has a great plan for your life.

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

Jeremiah 29:11 AMP

Long before your parents ever met, the Almighty, the creator of the universe, had you in mind.

Part of having you in mind was to design and map out a path for you.

That is, God has a plan of welfare and peace and not of evil.

With the understanding of the scripture above, we should always teach our children to be confident that the Lord is always with them and has a great plan for their lives.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to believe and walk in your plans for my life. Amen

That word means “romantic.” Spirituality should never in any way disturb being a romantic lover, single or married.

The synonyms of “romantic” include loving, amorous, passionate, tender, affectionate, lovey-dovey. Speaking in tongues should not disturb speaking sweet things to your lover.

One is to God, the other is to your lover. After you have done the one for God, do the one for your lover as well.

Let your relationship or marriage be characterized with an expression of love. Be passionate towards him or her.

Before wedding, “passionate’ does not include kissing, smooching, and sex. It includes calling regularly, doting on each other, praying for one another, sending loving (not vulgar or perverse) texts to each other (not sexting), buying each other flowers, chocolates, special gifts, and doing memorable things together.

Being romantic is not being full of lust.

In the Old Testament, honeymoons last as long as one year!

Deu 24:5 (KJV) When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

God wants you to enjoy each other!

In the New Testament, God wants you to have honeymoon for life! Enjoy every day of your married life! Sadly enough, by first week of most marriages, it is only the moon they can find, no honey! That will not be your portion in Jesus name!

The Bible clearly advocates that married couples enjoy themselves sexually and otherwise.

Pro 5:18-19 (KJV) Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.  [19]   Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

There is nothing wrong about fantasizing about your spouse! It is godly. Take a look at the Message Translation:

Pro 5:18-19 (MSG) Bless your fresh-flowing fountain! Enjoy the wife you married as a young man!  [19]  Lovely as an angel, beautiful as a rose— don’t ever quit taking delight in her body. Never take her love for granted!

There are certain rules that govern the affairs of any successful marriage. These rules or laws can be applied by any person. That is why someone who is not a Christian can have a good marriage if she/he applies these rules. That is the secret of some of our old parents who despite all, kept their marriage.

Wisdom such as

* When angry don’t talk.

* Calm down and don’t overreact

* When one person is angry the other person should try and keep calm

* A soft response always saves the day.

* Good food is the way to a man’s heart

All these are natural wisdom but have their root in biblical truths.

Let’s check out two of these biblical facts and truth.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Gal 5:16 [KJV]

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Rom 8:1

It is actually in the marriage that you can practice walking in the spirit the most. That’s why it is said that marriage is for the spiritual and the matured.

When we say you should be spiritual, it is for your good and for the good of your marriage.

Man has no original thoughts. Every thought is either from the devil or from God. When you are spiritually minded, you mind the things that pertain to God.

If you are carnally minded, you mind the things that pertain to the flesh. So you walk in the flesh when you give mind to the thoughts of the flesh.

For example, your flesh wants to curse, fume, and fight back when you are abused and pushed to the wall. Your flesh wants to fight to finish and have to last word.

Whereas, when you are spiritually minded and led by the spirit of God and yield to the dictates of the spirit, you want to do things that are contrary to what your flesh wants you to do.

It is actually wise to be controlled and allow yourself to be influenced by the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit dictates to us how to live and we yield to Him, we experience peace and joy. He makes all things work together for our good.

When the Holy Spirit leads us to pray instead of talking back in anger, when he tells us to smile back at our spouses’ rude response, when we find the strength to labor out of love and not out of annoyance etc then God can work on our behalf to give us a miracle in our home and marriages

May God give us the strength to always yield and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in our marriages.

To enjoy rest means to be peaceful on all sides, having everything falling in the right places. My children have rest.

But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil confronting me.

1kings 5:4 [AMP]

To enjoy rest, one must be at the center of God’s will, that is, living righteously. Enjoying rest also means, sickness and diseases are far away from us.

See what the scriptures says somewhere else.

And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Exodus 23:25[KJV] 

Rest also means to be physically refreshed.

Even Jesus rested immediately after creation.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Genesis 2:2 [KJV]

We should always pray that our children will enjoy rest in every area of their lives and that no adversary or evil will confront them, in Jesus’ name; Amen

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to rest when I should.

ACTION PLAN:
Decide to take adequate rest today.

DECLARATION:
My children enjoy all round rest. No sickness is found in or around them.

Everybody reading this, including myself would have done some foolish things in time past, so nobody is really exempt and this is not to condemn or indict anybody.

Every man has his share of mistakes, but the wisdom in past foolishness is learning from them and adjusting accordingly. So the pertinent question this morning is, “Am I doing something foolish presently unknowingly? Have I been entangled in the web of foolishness without knowing?”

It is important to take an inventory of yourself because the foolishness of the foolish does not allow him to identify his foolishness, he sometimes thinks, the wise are the foolish ones!

Sometimes, you need the help of another to be able to see your foolishness because foolishness blinds.

In Matt. 23:17, 19, Luk.11:40 and Luk. 24:25, Jesus actually referred to some people as fools.

So, who is a foolish man? Who will God call a foolish man or woman? Let’s learn a few things from Solomon, a once wisest man on the planet. We cannot exhaust all but here are a few.

1. A foolish lover despises wisdom and instruction

The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.

Pro 1:7 AMP

A wise man knows that the starting point of life is to be a God worshipper and a lover of God. He is apt to want to learn the things of God. A foolish man on the other hand will not appreciate or value wisdom.

2. A foolish person makes fun of God and dislikes knowledge

“How long will you childish people love your childish ways? How long will you rude people enjoy making fun of God and others? How long will you foolish people hate knowledge?

Pro 1:22 NIrV

A foolish man laughs at the things and ways of God. He practically hates knowledge. He never reads any books. He or she prefers to spend time jesting, watching films lazily, and such things rather than seeking to improve himself.

How To Celebrate Yourself In Marriage

Yes, you’ve got to celebrate yourself on your way to becoming better. God thinks you are a big deal, so don’t let the devil suggest to you otherwise.

You are very special to God and He loves you so much. Stop focusing on your failures and shortcomings. God understands our frail humanity. He knows our daily struggle against sin and the devil.

God says we should confess and repent of our sins and He will forgive us and remember them no more. He will blot out our sins and it will be like we never committed any sin.

That is good news. No matter how bad we may have been, God forgives and gives us another chance until we get it. God never gives up on us, instead, He celebrates us.

We should learn to enjoy the love, goodness, and mercy of God. A songwriter calls it the ‘overwhelming, never-ending love, reckless love of God. God’s love is so extravagant and reckless.

He pours His love and His power to forgive us in a reckless manner. We should take time to celebrate this love because we are the object of His love. In all of creation, He chose us as the focus of His love.

Celebrate your victories no matter how little they are. Learn to pause and thank God because He has a plan for your life. He is taking you somewhere glorious and He is not done with you.

As you celebrate yourself, it becomes easy for you to celebrate your spouse and what God is doing in their lives as well.

All of us are a work in progress. God does not make failures and so we are sure we are not going to fail.

As you trust God to become better and to move on to maturity in the things of God, celebrate yourself and give thanks to God. This attitude of celebration is needed to keep us going.

My Children Are As A Well Nurtured Garden

One thing we can equate the growth of our children to is that of a garden. My Children are as a well nurtured garden.

The bible tells us that;

May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars cut for the structure of a palace;

Psalms 144:12 (ESV)

A well-nurtured garden is always pleasant to look at or to relax in, but no one will desire to stay in an untidy garden. A garden is not left all by itself to be well nurtured, it takes a conscious effort.

Likewise, for our children, we must work towards nurturing them by teaching them the word of God, praying for them, and believing in God to become what he has created them to be.

We should always pray that our children will be strong and straight and pointed toward heaven. Not dwarfed by bad habits or foolish choices, not choked out by the weeds of the world, but they will be of visible character who stands alone, strong enough to withstand the storms of life.

Also pray that God grants them visible strength, godly character, and the beauty of full development.

Prayer:
Oh Lord, cause my children to be as healthy as a well-nurtured garden; Amen
