Marriage, like any living thing, must be kept alive by taking certain actions on a regular basis. It has to be regular because consistency is necessary if we will make a success of our marriage. We have to learn to pay attention to it. Whatever we pay attention to grows and increases.
We see and hear of successful couples who have been happily married for 30years or more doing the same things over and over again.
It is not the big things we do that makes our marriage great but it is the little things we have learnt to do on a consistent basis that makes our marriage work and become better and more intimate.
Here are 3 simple things we can do as a matter of routine.
1. Play
Couples should learn to play together. Marriage grows stale and monotonous if we don’t take time to play. We could as well be a house or flatmate. One out of the two spouses will be more playful. Please be responsive whenever your playful spouse makes advances, even when you don’t feel like. There is nothing as frustrating as been giving a cold treatment each time a spouse what’s to play.
For the serious or not so playful mate, you can always learn to play. The benefits of playing are so much. You look and feel younger and it is a good therapy against worry.
2. Pray
It is true that whosoever you pray for and play with every day, you love more and get to be fond of more.
Let every couple take time daily to pray for each other. Even if you cannot pray together, maybe because of different schedules, you should pray for each other.
Each of us has twenty-four hours. Let us take some moment out every day to thank God for our spouses and then pray.

If we have a scripture we pray on a daily basis for our spouses, the better. We can be sure that they are saved from the hands of the enemy daily.
Imagine you praying every day for your spouse for 20 years. How beautiful will it be? When you pray for your spouse, you are saying that you know your spouse is weak but divine intervention will help them.
3. Pay
Let being married to your spouse cost you something. Don’t let their birthdays pass you without you spending money to celebrate and appreciate them. Make every day special. Buy little stuff for your spouse. Pay their bills. Don’t be married and yet your purse is not. Let your purse know that you are married.
Being married means you can’t buy things only for yourself. You can’t pay for your food at the restaurant, it has to be for at least two.
As a husband, when you see something on any lady you admire, buy it for your wife also.
I believe if we can do these 3 things on a daily basis, our marriage will improve.

3. When a period of play has ended due to the expiration of time
You know what?
I am here to announce to you this morning that the operation of the enemy in your life has expired!
God has blown the whistle on them!
Your time is here!
Shout it if you can “My time is here!”
When your season comes, no man can stop you. All of hell combined cannot stop you!
The time to favour you is now!
I curse every delay in your life!
I terminate every spirit behind rejection and abandonment in your marital pursuit in Jesus name!
Every work of the devil, manipulation through dreams, sexual dreams, spirit husband, spirit wife, dreams of delays, are expired today in Jesus name!

God has blown the whistle on the enemy of your soul!
I declare by the power of the Holy Spirit, you will rise from those disappointments.
You will share your testimonies.
God will honor your labour of love.
God will compensate your heart of service with a beautiful and godly marriage
God will cause your mouth to laugh at the points where you have cried.
God will cause your feet to dance at the points you have mourned.
God will decorate your destiny with His glory!
So shall it be for you, in the name of Jesus whose I am and whom I serve!
The God behind this mandate will avail for you!

PRAYER FOR THE DAY Oh Lord, blow the whistle over every pretentious lover who is planning to commit fouls in my life.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Zechariah 10:8 [KJV]I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase as they have increased.
Have you ever been unresponsive to your husband’s playful advances? I have been several times. That was before I learned that part of my role as a wife is to be responsive to him and to be his playmate every time and any time.
Do I respond every time? No. I still consider my husband playful and don’t join, thankfully we have three boys who can play with him.
My husband sometimes considers me as being too serious. I never grew up with a sanguine in the house so having fun was not a regular thing. We were quiet in our family and our idea of fun was little laughter here and there.
My husband is not so much of a Sanguine but his Choleric tendencies have made him an extrovert at least to me. He seems quiet when he wants to but when he is in his rhyme, he really wants to talk and play.
Sometimes he wants to play, sing *winks*, be funny, talks, disturb me and all the rest. He is just full of energy and he wants to release some.
The one thing that men don’t leave behind from being boys is playing and having fun. They love to have fun and as their wives, you have to learn to have fun with them.
You may be pushing your husband out to look for a playmate. You must learn to be jovial. Be responsive to his jokes. Laugh with him. Laugh at him. Your role as his wife is not to stop him from playing, it is to play with him.
Don’t stop him from watching his football games or any other games, join him in. Don’t be too busy for him. I know you have a lot to do especially when you don’t have help. The idea is to let your husband occupy the first place and every other thing will find its place.
