How To Handle Relationship Pressures – Part 5

How To Handle Relationship Pressures – Part 5

Reading Time: 2 minutes

SINGLES –

Continued from yesterday

Parental Pressure

Parents usually wish to see their grandchildren on time. Also, they get anxious about your success in life and wouldn’t want you to miss out on any advantage of life they feel is due to you at the time, this can also constitute pressure.

Do not yield to such pressure just to satisfy your parents when you know in your heart that God isn’t leading you yet. You cannot please your parents at the expense of God.

Your parents cannot sustain your marriage, it is only God that can. While it is good to obey and listen to your parents according to the scripture, you cannot obey them when what they are asking you to do clearly violate the principles of God.

Environmental and Media Pressure

A lot of destinies are warped today because of the warped outlook of a given society at any point in time. We live in a sexualized age aided by print and media broadcast, which makes available pornographic and other sinful materials.

However, the environment is not an excuse in any way as God expects that your light shine’s forth in the midst of the darkness. God expects that you stay chaste and refuse to compromise despite all the pressures that come your way. That is how to show your maturity in God.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I refuse to stay under pressure of any kind. I am in control through the Spirit of God. I exercise authority over all situations and circumstances in Jesus name. I will not crumble under pressures in Jesus name.

PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
Lord, strengthen me daily to withstand every kind of pressures in Jesus name.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Don’t let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, “God is trying to trip me up.” God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one’s way. James 1:13 (MSG)

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Identify all stress sources, and work towards eliminating one at a time.

BIBLE READING FOR THE DAY

The Never Changing God

The Never Changing God

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Never Changing God. People will often disappoint you in this world. There are things you expect them to do or not do that they will not do or do. You can’t expect people to always be the same. They are human like you and have to deal with so many things.

But one person will never disappoint you. He is Jesus, the son of God. In the book of Hebrews, we see how Jesus remains the same forever.

Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”

This verse is saying that before you were born, Jesus was loving and kind (yesterday), and He is still the same kind and loving person He was today, and that He will still remain loving and kind tomorrow and forever.

So, you can see how Jesus has remained the same all through generations. He was kind and loving to your great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents. He will be and is kind and loving towards you as He will be to your children.

Jesus will never change towards you. No matter the sin you commit as long as you ask for forgiveness and stop the sin.

Write this in your top thirty verses to know. Let this be a weapon to use when the enemy tries to tell you that Jesus will fail you. Tell him that your Jesus will never fail you.

May the Lord’s love continually surround you all the days of your life. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, Jesus, thank you for displaying your trustworthiness all through generations. I rest in Your reliability. Thank You.

Action Point:
Are you gradually losing focus? Retrace your steps right away.

Declaration:
I am consistent and focused.

Listening To God Speak

Listening To God Speak

Reading Time: 2 minutes

James didn’t like how his brothers treated him. They always teased him about his love for reading and studying. They called him names like “effico”, “bookworm” and more. He wished he could just tell them what was on his mind. They weren’t that perfect too. He knew their flaws too and what they did in secret. What would God speak to him?

At church, he learnt about forgiveness. The Sunday school teacher used the story of Joseph to explain how to forgive.

That was going to be hard for James. So, he approached the teacher and told him about what he was facing at home. The teacher explained the reason why he had to forgive his brothers just like Joseph did.

By the time they were through, James learnt why he had to forgive and how to do so. It was a relief to him. He wasn’t going to continue in unforgiveness towards his brothers.

When you speak to other believers about an issue, you get more knowledge. They help you to understand what you are feeling, why it is wrong or right, and what to do about it. When the believer is older than you, you get to hear about their or other people’s experiences on issues like yours.

So, find a believer like yourself and share your fears or issues with them.

God bless you as you do so. Amen.

Prayer:
Dear God, help me find true believers that can point me towards the right path with issues I am facing or will face, in Jesus name. Amen

Action plan:
Locate an elderly Christian believer and ask them to be your mentor.

Declaration:
My children are open-minded. They seek advice from fellow believers. They do not keep the wrong associations.

Declaration (children):
The Lord speaks to me through his word. My ears are opened to God’s word.

Not Too Young To Rule

Not Too Young To Rule

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Children, there is something I want to bring to your hearing this morning. You must have heard the phrase ‘not too young to rule’. Yes, that is what I want to talk to you about.

Many times, we relax and allow things to slip past our fingers because we have this notion that we are too young to do certain things.

We tend to procrastinate things till when we are much older. Truth be told, there are certain things we can’t do by virtue of age, physical stature, law, and so on, but there are still certain things we can venture into while still young.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: KJV- Isa 55:6

One good you can do to yourself is to seek the Lord in your tender age. having a good foundation of the Lord, of scriptures, God’s promises, from now helps shapen the type of person we become when we grow up.

As parents, we are to ensure our children seek God early in life. No one is too young to seek God.

The bible records that Josiah became King at a very tender age and he ruled well.

The above verse tells us that there comes a time when the Lord may not be found. Hence, it is wise for us to align ourselves in the way of the Lord from now.

As long as you can call on your parents, then you should be able to call on God. God will answer because he is interested in children.

Declaration:
I will seek the Lord early in life. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, help me to see you early.

Action Point:

Here Is Why You Should Know Your Spouse

Here Is Why You Should Know Your Spouse

Reading Time: 2 minutes

It is funny that after some years, we begin to despise our spouse and claim that they are no longer good or that they are the cause of our misfortune or that they have slowed us down. As this statement might be correct, it is not absolutely true.

As a couple, no one succeeds without the input of the other, no matter how little. One spouse may have the great strength and skills to go to the ‘battle’, but remember the one who stayed at home and made sure everything back at home is defended.

Once you are married, you are no longer two, but one flesh. If you feel because of the ignorance or disobedience of your partner you are experiencing some sort of delay, then you have to work together as a team. Defeat your enemy together.

You both have a common enemy, the enemy of your progress and advancement. The enemy that does not want you both to fulfill purpose and destiny.

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE

Sometimes, you just need to accept your partner as they are on their way to becoming better. You have to love them to transformation.

We love our parents and accept them with all their weaknesses. We don’t try to change them or educate them. We just accept them and learn to deal with them with love.

We have to also deal with our spouse the same way. Just as our parents are our parents and we can’t change the fact that our parents gave us birth, so also we can’t change the fact that our spouse are our spouse. We married them and we are in a long lasting, never ending covenant.

Marriage is a covenant and should be lived as such.
The Bible tell us to submit to one another out of our reverence and respect for the Lord.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. – Eph 5:19

We are only able to submit to one another when we know our spouse well enough. It is easier to submit to the one we know well enough. We not only know our spouse, but we understand their person and deal with them based on our knowledge of them.

May God grant us strength, courage and understanding to work together as a team in Jesus name.

God bless our marriage.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I have a good understanding of my spouse.

PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
Pray that you and your spouse will be united the more.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. – Eph 5:19
