Reading Time: 2 minutes

This is Part 2. I started writing on this topic yesterday. This morning, I will conclude. If you missed the first part, you can read it HERE

6. Don’t hold your lover in unforgiving mode.
I learnt from my dad how to forgive quickly. He doesn’t know how to get bitter, and that has prolonged his life. You need that attitude in your relationship or marriage. You have to learn to lovingly overlook mistakes and errors and not be unnecessarily judgmental.

7. Do not feed your weaknesses
Your strength is to provide needed balance in your marriage so that your strength will cover for her weaknesses and vice versa. Deliberately avoid feeding each other’s weaknesses. That way, you will grow faster.

8. Do not correct to hurt or in anger.
Let affirmations be the landing place for your corrections. Learn how to correct in love!

O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

Jer 10:24 (KJV)

This is how God corrects and this is what we need to imbibe as well.

9. Do not lead your lover into sin
You are the greatest influence on your lover. Most of the time, he or she will do what you want or what you approve of. Do not lead each other or encourage each other into iniquity. Be circumspect.

10. Do not ignore the wisdom of mentors and superiors.
God will usually surround you with mentors and pastors that can help you out in your marital journey. Ignoring them could be at your peril. The wisdom you will need in navigating the path of a successful courtship and eventually marriage is usually domiciled in your mentors around you.

It is wisdom then, to learn how to draw it out.

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Pro 20:5 (KJV)

Good morning.
