Understanding Self Control

Understanding Self Control

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Hi Champ. It’s a beautiful day to learn some wisdom. Lend me your ears and pay close attention to today’s topic. we’ll be learning about Self-control.

What is self-control?

It is the ability to control one’s emotions or behaviour, especially in difficult situations.

From this definition, you see that it’s very important for us as children of God to have self-control.

Let’s see what the Bible says about it.

… Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control. Proverbs 25:28 – (NIV)

Literally, if a city’s walls are broken down, it means it lacks security. It can be attacked at any point. Imagine if the walls of your house were broken down, it leaves you unprotected and in danger of harm.

God wants us as his children to live a self-controlled life. In fact, the bible cautions us to have self-control to avoid falling into the devil’s temptations. It is one of the things that his grace helps us to do

See what the Bible says in Titus 2:11-12(NIV)

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled,  upright and godly lives in this present age,

The Holy Spirit works in us to make this possible.

How do we live self-controlled lives?

Join me tomorrow as I break this down for you

Prayer:
Lord, help me to live a self- controlled life. Amen

Action point:
Ask the Holy Spirit for help

Declaration:
I have self- control

How Can I Locate The Right Person?

How Can I Locate The Right Person?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Betty is so frustrated in the relationships she had been involved with. She seems to have the knack for attracting the wrong people all the time. From deceivers to casanovas and then out-rightly wicked people, she kept having broken relationships. At a time, she began to think that there might be a curse lurking somewhere.

Andy had similar experiences in the hands of what he can only describe as strange women. They kept ripping him off, collecting his money, and eventually eloping just at the times commitments were about to be initiated. He didn’t know what to do again. He seems locked up in the pit of confusion with no flicker of light or hope?

Is there ever a way to know the right person as a child of God? Is there ever a way to avoid the wrong man or woman? Will God lead? If God leads, how? How can I be kept from ungodly people, deceivers, and liars?

Sometimes, you don’t even know which Pastor to talk to because there are so many charlatans who call themselves Pastors but will readily take advantage of naive ladies and end up abusing the abused! It’s pathetic and heart-rendering!

Let us get into the scripture to see some verses in answers to avoiding wrong people in relationships. The truth is that if you are able to avoid the wrong people, you will not waste time and resources on what will not eventually work. You will not be dissipating your energy on wasteful and useless relationships.

(10)When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; (11)Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: (12)To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; (13) Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; (14)Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; (15)Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: (16)To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words; (17)Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.(18) For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.(19)None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life. (20)That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.Pro 2:10-20 KJV

In verses 10 and 11, the Bible says that you will be protected and preserved from falling into the wrong hands.

Verse 12 says ‘it will deliver you from the evil man.’ This means wisdom and knowledge will help you not to say YES to the wrong man.

Message translation of verse 12 says,

‘They’ll keep you from making wrong turns, or following the bad directions.’

That is very profound. It will keep you from making emotional decisions.

Message translation of verse 14 says it will deliver you from ‘These losers who make a game of evil and throw parties to celebrate perversity’  That is, you will be kept away from men that are out to deceive you.

Message translation of verse 15 says it will deliver you from people that are ‘Traveling paths that go nowhere, wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends.’ That is, you will be kept away from jobless, visionless, directionless men. This is how to avoid wrong men.

Further down in verse 16, the Bible says ‘To deliver thee from the strange woman!’ This is awesome. You don’t want to get involved with a strange woman. Solomon married strange women and they turned his heart away from God.

Whether you are a man or woman, you are protected. But notice it all boils down to the fact that wisdom must enter your heart and knowledge must be pleasant to your soul. Go after wisdom. Stay in church and learn. Buy books and study.

The key to all this seems to be in verse 10, …when wisdom enters your heart. If wisdom can only enter my heart, I can avoid evil men and strange women. I can be kept from time and resources-wasting relationships.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I will go after wisdom. I will locate the right person

PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
O Lord, help me locate the right person

What Every Husband Must Do To His Wife

What Every Husband Must Do To His Wife

Reading Time: 2 minutes

For the next few days, our devotionals will be centered on showing every husband how God wants him to treat his wife

1. Husbands, treat your wife with tenderness

Husbands, you in turn must treat your wives with tenderness, viewing them as feminine partners who deserve to be honored, for they are co-heirs with you of the “divine grace of life,” so that nothing will hinder your prayers. -1Pe 3:7 (TPT)

Husbands according to scriptures, you MUST treat your wife with tenderness. It is a requirement for your prayers not to be hindered

What does tenderness mean? It means each husband has to look at his wife and know what tenderness is to her.

Tenderness is a feeling of concern, gentle affection, or warmth. Tenderness is not a general thing in a sense because what I regard as tenderness, another lady may not see it as such.

In a general sense, you are tender to a woman when you are considerate of her and when you are kind and thoughtful of her.

Men have to learn this because men generally are logical beings. You have to be emotional and not stay on the side of logic to be tender.

Some husbands have a hard stance and are very rigid when it comes to showing their ego. To fulfill this instruction, you cannot afford to do that.

Did you miss out on yesterday’s devotional, we’ve got you covered kindly go HERE. For KHC video Devotionals kindly go HERE

2. Husbands, know that your wife is your feminine partner who deserves to be honoured.

You know every woman and wife deserves in the least to be honored.

God wants each husband to forever celebrate and honor their wives. If for anything, she left her father and mother, changed her last name, and decided to follow you and live with you.

In the same way you married men should live considerately with [your wives], with an intelligent recognition [of the marriage relation], honoring the woman as [physically] the weaker, but [realizing that you] are joint heirs of the grace (God’s unmerited favor) of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered and cut off. [Otherwise you cannot pray effectively.] -1Pe 3:7 (AMPC)

Honour – Greek – value, that is, money paid; esteem (especially of the highest degree), or the dignity itself: One way to honor your wife is to spend money on her and make her feel special, especially on her anniversaries.

Some men didn’t have anything when they got married, yet your wife stayed by you. Your wife deserves to be honored, that is what the Bible says.

Now how do you honor her?  That is up to every husband to decide and determine.

To be continued tomorrow…

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I choose to honor my wife in all things

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
I nullify every activity of the devil over my family.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Husbands, you in turn must treat your wives with tenderness, viewing them as feminine partners who deserve to be honored, for they are co-heirs with you of the “divine grace of life,” so that nothing will hinder your prayers. -1Pe 3:7 (TPT)

Not Too Young To Rule

Not Too Young To Rule

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Children, there is something I want to bring to your hearing this morning. You must have heard the phrase ‘not too young to rule’. Yes, that is what I want to talk to you about.

Many times, we relax and allow things to slip past our fingers because we have this notion that we are too young to do certain things.

We tend to procrastinate things till when we are much older. Truth be told, there are certain things we can’t do by virtue of age, physical stature, law, and so on, but there are still certain things we can venture into while still young.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: KJV- Isa 55:6

One good you can do to yourself is to seek the Lord in your tender age. having a good foundation of the Lord, of scriptures, God’s promises, from now helps shapen the type of person we become when we grow up.

As parents, we are to ensure our children seek God early in life. No one is too young to seek God.

The bible records that Josiah became King at a very tender age and he ruled well.

The above verse tells us that there comes a time when the Lord may not be found. Hence, it is wise for us to align ourselves in the way of the Lord from now.

As long as you can call on your parents, then you should be able to call on God. God will answer because he is interested in children.

Declaration:
I will seek the Lord early in life. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, help me to see you early.

Action Point:

How To Make Your Lover Happy – Part 2

How To Make Your Lover Happy – Part 2

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Continued from yesterday…

3. Buy her surprise gifts from time to time

It really doesn’t have to be expensive if you are not buoyant, but you should trust God for constant supplies.

There is a large part of the brain that is dedicated to shiny things in ladies.

In men, it is gadgets, anything that looks like a box, phones, cars, sound systems and so on. But in women, it is anything shiny, shoes, bags, jewelries and the likes.

If you don’t agree, buy her one and see how she will grin from ear to ear.

4. Give her time and attention

Hear what she is saying and what she is not saying.

Do not allow communication to die.

Keep talking no matter what.

If you are not in the same city, make sure you contact each other daily unless you are working in a medieval forest where there are no communication networks.

Otherwise, you have no excuse that you are so “busy” and you cannot call.

I really will not agree that a man can be so busy and cannot steal out five minutes out of twenty-four hours to be in touch with the one he professes to love.

If he forgets to call from time to time, it is either he loves another wherever he is or he is deliberately developing cold feet towards the relationship.

If a man loves you, his heart will be with you and he will stay in touch no matter what.

If he has not called you in three weeks, you are the only one in love, he is not.

It can really be painful to be in love with one who is not in love with you. It is a time waster and you should not waste your time on such.

So, time and attention are very important to a man.

I pray that God will grant you more wisdom on this topic in Jesus name!

A shout to all our partners, God will continue to honor you in Jesus name! Be blessed!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
My lover is very happy with me. I do things that please him/her.

PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
Oh Lord, teach me how to make my partner happy.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
2 Corinthians 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Tell him/her how much you love them
