Futility of A Life Without God was taught by Rev. Dunamis Okunowo on the 6th of March 2022 at Shouts of Grace Center, Joke Plaza, Beside Trans Amusement Park, Bodija-UI Road, Ibadan.
In his teaching, Rev. Dunamis made mention of the following important points:
A lot of people, in their pursuit of happiness, exclude God. That’s futility!
King Solomon studied life, experimenting with his own life, and gave us some conclusions.
It is wisdom to apply the researches of this man, instead of going through the same route and messing up your life.
He experimented with wine (Eccl 2:3) and found out that wine is a mocker (Prov. 20:1, 23:29-30).
Wine may offer you temporary relief, but begins to mock you afterwards.
Women are deep, and should be respected. King Solomon experimented with women, and found out that a woman can be a bitter pill to swallow (Eccl 7:26, MSG). In essence, he was saying, “Don’t mess with women!”
Happiness cannot be found by sleeping around – you may have an orgasmic feeling afterwards, but after two hours, you will be back to your misery.
The pursuit of money cannot bring you the joy and satisfaction you desire. You’re mistaken if you believe that; listen to King Solomon:
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this [is] also vanity. When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good [is there] to the owners thereof, saving the beholding [of them] with their eyes? The sleep of a labouring man [is] sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. There is a sore evil [which] I have seen under the sun, [namely], riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt. Ecclesiastes 5:10-13 (KJV)
God wants you to have money, and not for money to have you.
He experimented with possessions (Eccl 2:4-6, 10), and found all these things were vanities (Eccl 1:2) – futility!
In all the experiments King Solomon carried out, he concluded that chasing all of these things were vanity and vexation of the spirit… and that only the fear of God and His pursuit is worth striving for:
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
Prioritize God in your life.
Serve God with your life, devotional life (don’t be too busy to fellowship with God – in prayers and in studying the Bible)
Serve God with your time (find a service area and fill it)
Serve God with your money
Serve God with your heart/emotions
Honour God with your words
God has made up His mind to bless you; He only needs you to cooperate.
