This Is How To Have fun With Your Friends

This Is How To Have fun With Your Friends

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hanging out with your friends can be a great way of having fun, especially if they are friends that bring out the best in you and help you to smile when you feel down.

You also have to be a good friend to others. If you make hanging out with you interesting, then you will probably have loads of friends wanting to be friends with you.

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Prov 27:17, KJV

There are cool ways to have a great time with your friends. One of such is playing bible games with them.

There are loads of games you can get from the bible. It’s a book filled with many characters that did some fabulous and not too fabulous things.

You could try learning the books of the bible alphabetically and say what each book is about. For example, the book of Proverbs talks about wisdom, Genesis is about creation and how man began to fill up the earth.

You could also have a game of bible heroes- discussing what these heroes did, how they did it, where it happened and so much more.

Another fun game from the bible is searching for who said what in the bible, why they said it, and what it meant.

Acting out events from the bible is also a great way of having fun. Think of the story of David and Goliath – you could act that out with your friends. What about the story of Elijah, Elisha, Gideon, and loads of other characters? Think of costumes, props, lights, and action.

You are not only having fun by doing this, but getting to know your bible back to front, and learning the bible in a fun way.

Also, you are acquiring more knowledge about God.

You are learning about how things were in the bible, how people dressed, what they ate, what they did, and more.

It’s also a good way of bringing unbelievers closer to God. Think of it as a mini form of evangelizing.

So, the next time your friends come around or you go visit them, how about suggesting one of these games to them?

God bless you always. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the wonderful friends that surround me. Help us to have cool fun ways of hanging out in Jesus name. Amen.

Action plan:
Get some friends together and play one of these games.

Declaration:
I choose my friends wisely. I am surrounded by good friends.

How Your Children Can Receive The Holy Spirit

How Your Children Can Receive The Holy Spirit

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He is our friend and comforter. In the place of prayer, He enables us, especially in tough situations.

You need Him to function perfectly as a child of God. When Jesus was going to leave the earth, the disciples were sad to hear this. He said that he had to go for the Holy Spirit to come. The Holy Spirit had to come for us to receive the spirit of God.

How do you receive the Holy Spirit?

The first thing is to accept Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of your life. This means that you confess all your sins because you believe God sent Jesus to die for your sins. After this, you renounce all sins and make a decision not to go back to them again.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:9, KJV

The next step is receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit either by the laying of hands or by the Holy Spirit himself coming on you. The manifestation of this is the evidence of tongues. Some kids might choose not to speak in tongues, probably out of fear of what their friends or classmates might think or say about them. Others could just be afraid of what is happening to them.

Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 8:15, 17, KJV

I beg you not to be afraid of what people around will say or think of you. Do not be afraid of what is happening to you. The Holy Spirit is not harmful in any way.

After this, you need to start practicing the tongues you have been given. Do so as often as you can. This is a great way to pray as it enables you to weed out distractions. It helps your spiritual muscles grow.

For which cause I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee through the laying on of my hands.

2 Tim 1:6, ASV

Having the Holy Spirit is one of the best things that will happen to you as a Christian.

May the Spirit of God bless you with tongues. Amen

Prayer:
Sweet Spirit, come bless me with tongues. Thank You. Thank You.

Action point:
Try to speak in tongues for 30 minutes today if you have received the Holy Spirit.

Declaration:

I am filled with the Holy Spirit.

One Thing You Can Do For Your Grandparents

One Thing You Can Do For Your Grandparents

Reading Time: 2 minutes

There are several things you can do for your grandparents. Today, we will look at one thing you can do for your grandparents. Respect them!

Yes, as simple as that sounds, respect them.

One of the ten commandments given by God to the Israelites talked about respecting parents.

“Honor your father and your mother. then you will live a long time in the land. The Lord God is going to give you this land.”

Exodus 20: 12 ICB

You respect them because God is still their God!

Though old, weak, and grey hairs decorating their heads, they are still God’s children. He hasn’t forgotten them and will never do so.

Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you. I made you and will take care of you. I will carry you, and I will save you.

Isaiah 46:4 ICB

Your grandparents in a way are also your parents. They may not have directly given birth to you but still have some authority over you.

Whatever promises God made to you, He made to them also.
When He helps you, they also receive help.
God provides for them as He provides for you too.

He saved them as He saved you.
Jesus died for them just as He died for you.
In their old age, God is still their strength.
As you ask for strength, they also ask the same from God. And God gives you both.

They have the power to bless you. Their blessings come as a result of their deep affection for you. You are like another child to them; their golden child.

Israel blessed Joseph’s sons before he died.

They have the power to bestow wealth on you.

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children…

Prov. 13:22 AMP

Respect them as you do your parents.

May God continue to strengthen our grandparents in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer:
God, thank you for still being there for my grandparents. Thank you for providing and protecting them.

Action point:
How about checking on your grandparents this week or visiting them?

Declaration:
My grandparents will live to eat the fruit of their labour.

The Best Location For Your Devotion

The Best Location For Your Devotion

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Now that you have decided to make spending regular time in God’s presence a habit, where to meet should be the next item on your agenda. Every meeting has a location. What is the best location for your devotion?

1. Do you have enough privacy with no disturbance at all?

Disturbances will break the flow of your connection with God. This can be exhausting and discouraging. So, find a place where you know that for that period, you won’t be disturbed. Having people around or constantly passing by you can be a huge distraction.

2. Is the place clean and not cluttered?

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” This makes us understand that God not only looks at how clean our hearts are but, also how clean we keep our bodies. He is holy and part of holiness is keeping our bodies clean. God deserves to be worshipped in a clean environment.

Also, a cluttered environment causes your focus to wander from time to time when your eyes fall on objects in the environment.

3. Is the location quiet?

Meeting with God in a quiet environment enables your mind to focus on Him highly. The absence of noise helps you to quickly hear Him speak to you. You can hear His quiet, still voice.

That’s why it is highly recommended that you meet with God early in the morning before everyone wakes up.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Mark 1:35, KJV

Considering these things will greatly improve your prayer time with God.

God bless you. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, I seek to meet You in a place where we will both not be disturbed. Help me to find such a place. Amen.

Action plan:
Ask God to help you find a convenient place.

Declaration:
I will meet with God on a daily basis. He will show me where to meet with him.

How To Prevent Children From Stress

How To Prevent Children From Stress

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Stress is a daily part of our lives. We can’t hide from it but can only find ways to minimize its effects on us. A little stress though is good for us.

Children also experience stress. It could be a bully at school, a harsh teacher, or even an uncomfortable classroom. At home, it could be rifts between siblings, parental discord, or the death of a family member or friend.

And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.

1 Sam 3:8 KJV

Older children often are able to identify something that is bothering them (i.e. a stress to them), unlike younger ones who have not acquired the capacity to do so.

Children don’t and can’t manage stress the way adults do. It shows through their words, actions, and behaviours.

Little Samuel heard God calling to him but didn’t know what to do. He ran to Eli every time he heard God’s voice asking if the old priest was the one calling him. Eli identified that it was God calling little Samuel. He then told Samuel what to say when next he heard the voice.

The bible doesn’t record that Samuel experienced any stress but it was a situation that was new to him. He couldn’t process it and went to the only person he knew that could help. And Eli was able to help him.

Parents must be observant to notice any change in their children. Children won’t tell you what is disturbing them immediately, even when you ask. Only by observing can a parent find out. Parents must give total attention to children when they are speaking.

Declaration:
My children are not under stress. They learn to speak out. They are surrounded daily by the right people.

Prayer (parent):
Lord, help me to be truly observant about my child(ren). Help me to notice the changes in them no matter how subtle they may be. Amen.

Action plan:
Parent, sit down and watch your child today. Go through their things, room, and find things you never noticed before.

Don’t Pay Evil For Evil

Don’t Pay Evil For Evil

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Don’t pay evil for evil. ‘Look! It’s Taye’. Dele pointed out to Femi as they walked home from school. ‘He’s alone. Now you can do whatever you want to him” Dele urged, his eyes gleaming with vengeance.

‘Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone’ (NIV)

Romans 12:7

Taye had stumbled into Femi on purpose earlier today at school during lunch break. Femi’s whole lunch had spilled over his white shirt. This earned him a huge reprimand from the teacher. And his mom was still going to do so too at home.

Dele was right, this was the perfect opportunity to pay Taye back. He remembered what he had learned from the devotional this morning. He remembered the verse in the Bible.

‘Be kind and compassionate to one another. Forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you’.

Ephesians 4:32

‘No, I won’t do anything to him’ he shrugged his shoulders.

‘Are you serious?’ asked a dumbfounded Dele. ‘He bullies you all the time’.

‘My mom read today in the devotional that Jesus said I don’t have to be mean to him also’. He gave Taye a wide smile and waved as they passed him.

‘Did you just smile and wave at him?’ Dele asked, his eyes huge as lemons.

‘Yeah, I did’, said a happy Femi. He felt good as he walked on. ‘I am going to pray for him instead’.

People will always hurt us no matter how good we are to them or others. Being obedient to Jesus is not to hurt people back when they hurt us.

Declaration:
I learn to forgive. I will not pay evil with evil.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, I want to obey you by not hurting back anybody that has hurt me. In your mighty name, I pray. Amen.

My Children Are Truthful Always

My Children Are Truthful Always

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Be truthful always. Children think that when they are not caught red-handed in the act of wrongdoing, they are safe. Even when caught, they still might want to lie to wriggle out of it. That is an error.

Lovingly, we can help them see the error in this and show them what the bible says about it.

‘I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you’. (NIV)

Psalms 119: 11

We should punish them first, lead them towards an apology and make them understand why we are punishing them.

Punishment must always be in proportion to the wrongdoing not higher. They should know it is done out of love and not hate.

‘Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy’. (NIV)

Prov. 28:13

Prayer:
Lord, I release my child (say their name(s)) to You. Touch their hearts not to hide their wrongdoings. Even when caught, help them not to lie. Help me lovingly to scold and punish them accordingly. Amen.

Action point:
Confront your children on any issue you discover.

Declaration:
My children are truthful. They understand the dangers of telling a lie. They do not hide their wrongdoings.

How To Show Appreciation

How To Show Appreciation

Reading Time: 2 minutes

You must learn how to show appreciation. Tobi looked at the money in his hand, glared at his father in unbelief. What will five thousand naira fetch him at school as pocket money? Is this man from another planet, he thought? He murmured a “Thank you” to his father before storming away. I will just put it under my pillow and not go to school, he said to himself. That was exactly what he did.

Tolu, his twin brother, thanked their father profusely, prostrating as he did. He calculated how he was going to spend it to ensure that it lasted him for one month. A business idea even came to his mind. He smiled as he thought of the idea.

This much relates to the story of talents in the bible. We read how each was given an amount, how each spent it, who was praised, and who was punished.

God expects us to be grateful first for everything we have through our parents or others.

He also expects us to keep well everything we have. We should keep our rooms neat and tidy, ensure our clothes are washed and well arranged. We should handle our toys, shoes, books, and all we own well. Whatever we don’t use anymore, we can give out to someone else. He expects us to save our money or put it to good use.

Are you like Tobi and the ungrateful servant? Or you are like Tolu and the two servants who used their talents well?

Each had a reward? Which reward would you like to have?

The good –

“The master said, well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling the small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!”(NLT)

Matt.25:23

The bad –

“To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.” (NLT)

Matt 25:29

Be grateful for all you have and use them well.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for everything I have. I am grateful for my parents and all the people you have used to bless me. Teach me how to take care of my things. Help me make good use of them, in Jesus name. Amen.

Declaration:
My children are grateful. They are not like the foolish servant who hid his talents. They make good use of what is given to them.

Knowing What To Give This Season

Knowing What To Give This Season

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Do you know what to give this season? The bible tells us that we are wonderfully and beautifully made by God. Can you imagine yourself as beautiful and wonderful? Do you see yourself as ordinary? Do you see yourself as someone with no talent or gift, with nothing to give or share with others?

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Ps 139:14, KJV

God couldn’t have made you so beautiful and wonderful then leave you empty. No. You are a masterpiece from the Creator’s hands. Even the stones He created give praise to His name when you admire them. When you look at the rainbow in the sky and smile, you are praising God

Your Creator didn’t create you without something to give. No one should complain that they have nothing to give.  You have something to give. It could be a thing or an action.

You have a lot to give, children. More than you can ever imagine. You could give out your clothes if you’ve outgrown them, your toys, shoes, or books. Do you know that your smile could be a gift to someone who is down and just needs someone to notice and smile at them?

Your time is also a gift you can give to teach a friend or classmate who is struggling to understand lessons at school.

Praying for others is another thing you can give. You can pray for your parents, guardians, friends, siblings, pastor, teachers, neighbours, classmates, and so on.

Helping your parents or guardians at home is another good way to use your time.

Whatever it is you plan to give to others, ensure you tell your parents or guardians.

God bless you as you give. Amen.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for how you made me. I am glad that I have more than I give. Teach me new ways to give to others. Enable me to be a giver, to the glory of your name, amen.

Declaration:
My children learn to give. They do not withhold more than necessary.

How To Believe The Word Of God

How To Believe The Word Of God

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Today, we would be looking at how to believe the Word Of God. In some parts of the bible, we find places where the author writes “…saith the Lord.”

And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

Ex 4:22 KJV

At other places, God Himself speaks, saying “I will…”

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Isa 43:19 KJV

These are words that tell us about the promises and power of God.

When you come across such phrases in the bible, what comes to your mind? Do you think these words are still applicable today? Is God still saying “I will?” Are the words written by those writers still in effect? Do they mean that God is still saying?

Everything written in the bible is still as powerful as they were in bible times. God is still saying the same thing. His promises are continuous. He hasn’t changed. Nothing about Him has and never will.

When next you come across such words, believe that God is still saying them to you and everyone. If it is a place where God made a promise, claim it for yourself and others. That is how to believe and enjoy His promises. He even tells us that He honours His words more than His name.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Ps 138:2 KJV

He wants us to believe in Him and His words. We are greatly rewarded when we do so.

What a wonderful God we serve!

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your words are still the same. They are eternal and powerful. I claim every promise you made to me even before I was born. I am grateful in Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Action plan:
Try to find two instances each for where a writer records, “…says the Lord” and God saying “I will.” Read the full chapters and meditate on them.

Declaration:
My children are studious. They read, study, and meditate on God’s word daily.

Do This First Everyday

Do This First Everyday

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Do This First Everyday. When you wake up in the morning, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Or what do you do first? Do you reach first for your phone or the television’s remote? Or join your family for morning devotion?

God wants to be the first person you speak to and spend time with every morning. How do you do this? By praying immediately, you wake up. Begin with praises and thank Him for another day. Move on to committing your day to him. Thank Him for your family members, ask Him for protection and provision. Tell him anything that is on your mind.

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Psalms 5:3, KJV

Regularly doing this helps you develop closeness with God and He will bless you for it.

So, tomorrow morning, when you wake up, start to talk to God immediately. He is waiting to hear your voice.

God bless you. Amen

Prayer:
Dear Father, I want to start my day with you before anything else. Guide me as to how to pray to you when we meet at the place of prayer. Thank you.

Action plan:
Prepare the night before for your morning time with God. Tell your parents or siblings about your new decision.  Ask for their help to wake you up early. You can also set your alarm to the time you want to start praying.

Declaration:
My children understand the place of communion. They spend their morning productively communicating with the Father.

Studying The Bible By Learning From The Prophets

Studying The Bible By Learning From The Prophets

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Before the arrival of Jesus, God spoke to His people through the prophets, so you can start studying the Bible by learning from the prophets.

Heb 1:1 (KJV) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

The prophets received the offerings that the people brought to the temple as sacrifices to God.

They prepared it in accordance to God’s instructions.

Prophets were also sent to deliver messages to someone or a nation.

Jonah was a prophet sent to Nineveh to warn them about their ways.

Elijah was a great prophet, filled with the power of God. He refused to bow to idols worshipped by king Ahab, Jezebel and the false.

Prophets also prayed for sick people and they got healed.

Back in biblical days, prophets were full of God’s raw power, that’s why what they say will happen, will happen. Their words were held in high esteem. So you will grow by learning from the prophets.

There are also stories of good and bad prophets.

Through studying these great men of God (i.e. learning from the prophets), you will learn how and why God chose them.

As you study today, God will bless you with more revelation. Amen.

Prayer:
Thank you Lord for the mighty prophets in the bible.

Action Plan:
Choose a prophet today and study about him or her.

Declaration:
As I study these prophets, I get insights. I am learning from the prophets.

How My Children Can Cry For Mercy

How My Children Can Cry For Mercy

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Children can cry for mercy. Mercy is a vital force to be reckoned with. No one can do without mercy. It is something we should pray for, long for, hope for, and expect all the days of our lives.

One way our children can obtain mercy is through prayers. That is why we must teach them the art of prayers. Nobody is too small to pray.

Taking a cue from the great psalmist, when he messed up with Bathsheba, one way he was quickly restored was when he cried for mercy.

HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions.

Ps 51:1 {AMP}

Also looking at the story of blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, he received his sight when he cried for mercy.

so he began shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Luke 18:38 [TLB]

Parents, we should always pray that the mercies of God will continually preserve our children wherever they go.

Withhold not Your tender mercy from me, O Lord; let Your loving-kindness and Your truth continually preserve me!

Psalm 40:11 AMP

They should also be taught that our God is a loving and merciful God. They should always pray for God’s mercy over their lives, academics, and everywhere they go.

Wherever or whatever situation you find yourself, cry out for God’s mercy and He will surely answer you.

Prayer for children:
Lord, let your mercies continually rest upon my children, in Jesus Name. Amen

Prayer for parents:
Lord, let your mercy speak for us and our children, in Jesus Name.

Action Plan:
Parents, let’s ensure we pray, confess, and teach our children God’s words always.

Declaration:
My children are continually preserved by God’s mercies.

My Children Are Not Forsaken

My Children Are Not Forsaken

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Children are not forsaken. Let’s look at the short story of Bimpe and Mabel, the leader of the popular girls at the tutorial center.

‘Don’t sit there!’ a harsh voice said behind Bimpe as she was about to sit on the chair. It was Mabel, a year older than her and the leader of the popular girls at the tutorial center.

‘Why?’ Bimpe asked, masking the feeling of rejection inside her with a pleasant smile, as she turned towards the approaching Mabel.

‘Because you’re not in our group’ Mabel replied, swiping Bimpe from head to toes with her eyes. Her little entourage at her heels did the same to Bimpe, giving cruel smiles and chuckles as they passed her and took the row of seats.

Bimpe managed to find a seat somewhere but held her head high as she did so.

‘Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me’.

Psalm 27:10

Rejection is hard on children because it screams out to them you are not wanted, needed, beautiful, important, or worthy of love.

God doesn’t love us because of who we are, what we have, where we live, our parents, or for any other reason. He loves us just the way we are.

The bible says He first loved us. He loves us so much he made the earth for us, gave us air to breathe, the sun to shine and so much more the earth contains.

And He will never reject us. He promised to always love us. Even if others reject us, he won’t.

Prayer:
Thank you Lord for Your unconditional love for me. I am glad that I have your love. Amen

Action Point:
Read more of what you haven’t seen in a while.

Declaration:
God loves me. Even if the world rejects me for any reason, God will never do so.

How To Learn Through Male Character Study

How To Learn Through Male Character Study

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Yesterday, we learnt one way to study the bible. Let’s see yet another way this morning. Another way to approach the Bible is by doing a male character study.

The Bible is rich with stories of both men and women. Even children (little Samuel, Joseph).

They were people who like you faced certain challenges you could be facing right now.

People who had flesh and blood like you, walked the earth, ate food, drank water, much like you do today.

There’s no difference between you and them. The difference is only in how they related to God back then and how you are relating to Him today.

Do a male character study. Study the many male characters in the bible, look at what they did, how they did it and the outcomes of what they did.

Look at how God spoke to them, showed Himself to them, what He promised them and more.

As you study may God bless you with revelation. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, help me in my study of Your word. Amen.

Action point:
How about picking some names to start studying? Do a male character study

Declaration:
I am a student if the word. I will study the Bible for profiting.

How To Learn From Female Bible Characters

How To Learn From Female Bible Characters

Reading Time: < 1 minute

While studying the Bible, you can decide to study female Bible characters. The Bible records stories of them. There were the good and bad ones.

Apart from giving birth to children and keeping the home, they also played key roles in many important situations.

Read up on them. What did they do? How did they behave back then?

You could study the story of Deborah, a prophetess in the bible. There’s Esther, a Queen that saved her people from genocide. Women also supported the apostles in spreading God’s word.

Check what God says about women, how he spoke to them, what He did to them.

This is a great way to discover God’s purpose for women.

God bless you. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for creating women.

Action Plan:
Start a female character study.

Declaration:
I gain insight as I study these female Bible characters.

Honor Your Parents By Listening To Them

Honor Your Parents By Listening To Them

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Listening is also a way of showing that you care about your parents and their feelings. It’s a way of showing that you honor your parents. It’s hard enough being parents to you and your siblings, juggling work, church, the home and so many other parts of their lives.

One good way to appreciate your parents is by truly listening to them when they are speaking to you. Don’t be too quick to talk back, interrupt, grumble, or be rude to them. When you keep quiet and listen to them, you get to hear what they are saying, and what they want you to do.

Give them room to breathe by just hearing them out. They think they are old-fashioned or country bumpkins. They were once teenagers like you and understand you more than you know or can imagine.

After they finish speaking, then you can speak and tell them what you feel. Every parent loves to hear their children air their views.

Apologize if you have to and mean it. This way, you get to listen and they get to listen to you too. Both parties have a win-win situation.

“My child, guard my sayings; store my commandments with you.”

Proverbs 7:1 LEB

God bless you. Amen

Prayer:
God, please teach me to listen so I can understand what my parents are communicating to me.

Action plan:
The next time your parents are talking to you about something you did wrong, listen and don’t argue. Apologize when you should and need to.

Declaration:
My children are good listeners. They don’t speak back to me. They are very cooperative.

The Importance Of Having Your Bible

The Importance Of Having Your Bible

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Having your Bible is great. I remember my first bible. It was a teenager’s bible with many illustrations, quizzes, puzzles, a place to write my name, favorite verses and bible characters, and a lot more.

Having my own personal bible really fascinated me. I wasn’t going to share reading it with another person and I could read and make notes in the places provided. It was mine.

‘Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path.’ (GNB)

Psa. 119:105

What I enjoyed most about that experience was that God’s words became my own. The feeling that I could pick it up to read and study was the high point of the whole experience. Reading those words felt as if God was Himself talking to me directly.

‘The Almighty God, the Lord, speaks; he calls to the whole earth from east to west.’ (GNB)

Psa. 50:1

As you claim ownership of your things, you should do the same for a bible. Owning a personal bible is a start towards developing a personal relationship with God, knowing His words, and accepting Christ at an early age.

You’ll also know why you need to attend church and the benefits of having friends that are believers like you.

As a child, knowing God’s words helps you to handle the many situations, people, and stages of your childhood. You won’t have to struggle because you can pray and receive answers. Bible verses will be at your fingertips to speak and confess concerning any situation.

‘Then you will know how to behave properly, and your words will show that you have knowledge.’ (GNB)

Prov. 5:2

Do you own a personal bible? Is it according to your age? Ask your parents or guardian(s) for one today. God bless you as you do.

Prayer:
Lord, I want to know your words. Help me to cherish, read, and study my bible. Speak to me. Teach me Your words, in Jesus name, Amen.

Action Point:
Ask your parents to buy you a bible

Declaration:
My children follow what the word says. They are students of the word. They read and understand the bible.

Teach Your Children To Pray

Teach Your Children To Pray

Reading Time: < 1 minute

What are you teaching your children? To pray and trust? Or to worry and murmur? Daddy and mommy always sighed when there was no food in the house. Jade, their first daughter wasn’t happy either whenever together with her two brothers, they were sent back home because of school fees.

Ever since daddy lost his job, events like these have been frequent. She wished she could help out, but what can a nine-year-old do?

At church, her teacher mentioned that God hears our prayers. She entered her room, shut the door behind her, went on her knees, and began to pray, “Our heavenly father, I know you hear prayers. Daddy and mommy need your help. Please, provide for them.”

“Pray at all times.” (GNB)

I Thess. 5:17

Children, God hears your prayers much the same way He hears your parents. Your father in heaven wants you to pray always for your parents. Your prayers will release God’s blessings on them.

He wants you to pray to Him not only when things are bad, but always. He is a caring and loving God who hears everyone’s prayers and is ready to answer them.

He is waiting to hear your prayer.

“God made our ears – can’t he hear? He made our eyes – can’t he see? “

Psa. 94:9

Prayer:
Lord, help me to pray for my parents. Provide for them as they go about providing for me. Be their helper, in Jesus name. Amen.

Action point:
Pray to God about that pressing issue.

Declaration:
My children are prayerful. They understand the power in their words. God answers them speedily.
