Here are four reasons why you should strive to be truthful and be a person of integrity in your relationship and marriage.

1. That is the way God wants it

I strongly believe that God wants you to be a person who is truthful and sincere in all your dealings in life and with people.

Take a look at the scripture:

He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. (Psalms 101:7 KJV)

Look at the way The Message translation puts that:

But no one who traffics in lies gets a job with me; I have no patience with liars…(Psalms 101:7 Message)

Getting the fullness of God’s blessings in your life, relationship and marriage requires that you strive to be a person who is sincere.

Now, this does not mean that once you make a mistake and tell some lies, you are down and out. Almost everybody has done that anyway.

What this is saying is that when you make such mistakes, you quickly recognize and realize it was a mistake, and you strive not to repeat such mistakes.

However, it is a different ball game when a person is a habitual and impulsive liar! I don’t think God likes that.

Basically, because God Himself is truth; and in Him is no lie. So, He would also want His children to be children of light, not of darkness.

2. Trust will be built in your relationship or marriage

When you are a person of integrity and your spouse knows, there will be trust in your relationship or marriage. It is all for your good.

When your spouse has been disappointed many times and had to find out a lot of lies and deception, trust will be ruptured.

When trust is destroyed in a relationship or marriage, what will be left will be suspicion and mistrust.

Even when there is nothing, he or she will be suspicious. With that, the power of agreement; which is the greatest advantage of a couple, will be tainted.

They eventually will slow themselves down! Be a person of integrity in that relationship or marriage! Integrity preserves!

Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee. (Psalms 25:21 KJV)
