The Science of Foolishness

Hey there! We all do silly things sometimes, even grown-ups. It’s just part of being human. Nobody’s perfect, so don’t worry if you’ve made mistakes. But what’s important is that we learn from those mistakes and do better next time.

It is important to take an inventory of yourself because the foolishness of the foolish does not allow him to identify his foolishness, he sometimes thinks, the wise are the foolish ones!

Sometimes, you need the help of another to be able to see your foolishness because foolishness blinds.

In Matt. 23:17, 19, Luk.11:40 and Luk. 24:25, Jesus actually referred to some people as fools.

So, let’s talk about what it means to be a foolish person.

The Science of Foolishness

1. Despising wisdom and instruction

Being wise means respecting good advice and learning from it. But a foolish person doesn’t care about wise words. They think they know it all.

Pro 1:7 AMP
The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.

The Science of Foolishness

2. Making Fun of Important Things

Fools like to make fun of important stuff, like God and knowledge. They prefer to spend time jesting, watching films lazily, and wasting time on social media all day long.

Pro 1:22 NIrV
“How long will you childish people love your childish ways? How long will you rude people enjoy making fun of God and others? How long will you foolish people hate knowledge?

The Science of Foolishness

3. Ignoring Warning Signs

Sometimes, people see trouble coming but walk right into it. He deliberately steps into evil. He calls it necessary evil!

Pro 13:19 GNB
How good it is to get what you want! Stupid people refuse to turn away from evil.

The Science of Foolishness

4. Hanging Out with the Wrong Crowd

Your friends can have a big influence on you. If you hang out with wise people, you’ll become wiser. Hang out with fools, and life will be messy.

Pro 13:20 MSG
Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces
.

Benefits of Having Wisdom

Benefits of Having Wisdom

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hi Champ, it’s another exciting time to dig into God’s word. Let’s look at the benefits of having wisdom. There is a lot to learn from the wise king, Solomon.

It’s always exciting to read the book of Proverbs. Let’s learn something new today!

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: Proverbs 2:10-15 (KJV)

In our verses today, King Solomon identified for us one of the reasons we should be wise and have wisdom.

First of all, he identifies for us where wisdom should be located in our lives. The wise King says wisdom should be in our hearts.

This means that, beyond knowing what God’s words say, we should also put it in our hearts and live by God’s principles

He also tells us that knowledge should be pleasant to us. You know how you feel when mummy comes home with a bowl of ice cream? That’s how you should feel about knowledge!

What happens when we have wisdom in our hearts and knowledge is pleasant to us?

The Bible says;

1. Discretion will preserve you.

Do you know what Discretion is?
It is the ability to always think things through and act in the right way.

Everyone needs discretion in their lives, especially children of God like you and I.

This is because we should always seek to please God. If that’s our aim, then we have to carefully think through what we do, this is because our decisions matter at all time, and how we decide to do what we do matters as well.

To be continued…

Prayer:
Oh Lord, help me to be wise. Amen.

Action point:
Read your Bible.

Declaration:
I am wise in all my ways.

The Wise Words Of King Solomon –Part 2

The Wise Words Of King Solomon –Part 2

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hello dear child, yesterday we began an interesting topic – the wise words of King Solomon. Let’s continue on that today!

I told you that as a child the first three most important people in your life are God, your Father, and your Mother.

King Solomon in the book of Proverbs affirms this when he said;

Start with God — the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning. Pay close attention, friend, to what your father tells you; never forget what you learned at your mother’s knee. Wear their counsel like flowers in your hair, like rings on your fingers. –Proverbs 1: 7-9(MSG)

In whatever you do or wherever you find yourself, the first thing you should consider is;

1. What does God’s word say about this thing, what will Jesus do in this situation?

2. What will my Father say or do in this situation? How will he feel if he finds out I made so and so choice?

3. What will my Mother say; will I be making her proud, what would she have done if it were her?

The bible says to pay close attention to what your father says to you dear child. When Daddy is speaking is not the time to play or do something else.

Always have your father’s words in your heart where ever you go!

…never forget what you learned at your mother’s knee…

What you learn from your mother is also very important, the bible says don’t forget it, always remember what mummy says.

The bible says you should wear the counsel of your parents like flowers in your hair and a ring on your finger. Be proud of what they tell you, and beautify yourself with it.

Why should you do this?

If you obey them, the instructions will make you beautiful and envied by others.

That’s all for today Champ, see you tomorrow.

PRAYER:
Precious Holy Spirit, please teach me how to be a good child all the time. Amen.

ACTION PLAN:
Make sure you memorize the verses used in this devotional.

DECLARATION:
I am a good Child, I fear God and honour my father and mother all the time.

Wisdom from the Book of Proverbs –Part 2

Wisdom from the Book of Proverbs –Part 2

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yesterday I started talking to you about the wisdom in the book of Proverbs written by the wisest king, King Solomon.

I told you the importance of this book, and how the wisdom in the book is ageless because King Solomon got his wisdom from God.

You also can be as wise as he was, I am sure you are thinking of how possible that is.

All you need to do is ask for wisdom just like King Solomon and, God is gracious enough to always grant requests that are according to his will.

Let’s continue from where we stopped yesterday.

These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king —  Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going; A manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair; To teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality. There’s something here also for seasoned men and women,  still a thing or two for the experienced to learn — Fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women. –Proverbs 1:1-7 (MSG)

4. This book is meant to teach young people like you about life –God’s way.

5. There is a lot in it for people who are open to learning wisdom.

6. It also doesn’t leave out wise and experienced people; you and your parents can learn new things together.

Learning from the book of Proverbs is such an amazing experience, I am sure we’ll have so much fun picking out lessons one by one. See you tomorrow.

PRAYER:
Father in Jesus name, I pray for wisdom just like King Solomon in Jesus name. Amen.

ACTION PLAN:
Start a Bible challenge of reading the book of Proverbs

DECLARATION:
I am wise, I know what to do, and I live a life that pleases God, in Jesus name.

My Children Have Good Friends

My Children Have Good Friends

Reading Time: 1 minute

My children have good friends. It is very simple. Your association matters a lot. The people you move with matter a lot. That’s just the truth of life.

The one who associates with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

Proverbs 13:20 (NET)

It is the nature of man to always want to associate. God never made man live in isolation. No man can survive on his or her own. That is why your dad got married to your mum.

Same applies to your children. They always want to relate to the environment. As a matter of fact, it should be a source of concern for you if your child doesn’t relate with anyone. It should be a concern, really.

That being said, we ought to look out for the kind of association our children keep.
Let them know they can be deliberate and intentional about it.

Also, as parents, we should pray for them and their choices. Your prayers go a long way. Don’t be a careless parent. Always declare ‘My children have good friends’ to yourself and over the lives of your children.

Children, you should move freely with others in your environment. Nobody is an island. You need people to advance. Never think you can survive alone.

Walk with wise friends. Move about with those who are wise.

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 13:20 (ESV)

Do you want to suffer harm? I honestly do not think so. So choose your friends wisely and God will bless you. Amen

Declaration:
My children walk with the wise, therefore they are wise. My children have good friends.

Prayer:
Lord, make my children wiser in all their doings.

Action Plan:
Choose your friends wisely and intentionally.
