Manchester United are prepared to pay the £31m release clause to sign Roma defender Kostas Manolas, according to The Sun.
Manolas is set to severe ties with the italian club if Roma miss out on a Champions League spot. They are currently one point adrift of fourth-placed AC Milan.
Manolas, 27, has 39 caps for Greece, and has spent five seasons with Roma, scoring the goal that completed a remarkable comeback as the Italian side knocked Barcelona out of last season’s Champions League.
Solskjaer is desperate toimprove his backline and provide competition, with Eric Bailly and Marcus Rojo out of favour this season.
