A National Assembly/House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, on Wednesday ruled on a petition by PPN and its candidate, Mr. Solomon Enweremadu.
Enweremadu, who was seeking the nullification of the declaration made by INEC in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and current member representing the constituency in the present 7th State Assembly, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe.
Justice Cornelius Akintoye, the Tribunal Chairman, delivering the judgement made it known that the PPN candidate Petition lacked merit and the petitioner failed to establish his case beyond reasonable doubt.
Recall that Mr. Solomon Enweremadu had dragged the PDP candidate in the last 2019 State House of Assembly and current lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe to the tribunal asking it to cancel the March 9 election conducted in Isiala Ngwa North by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Enweremadu, (Petitioner), had claimed that the State Assembly election held in Isiala Ngwa on March 9, 2019 was rigged and did not comply with electoral guidelines spelt out by the INEC.
