Regarding the fight against Bandits in Zamfara state, Governor, Abdulaziz Yari has given security chiefs an order to head field operations. Making this known on Sunday, briefing newsmen during the meeting held in his private residence in Talata-Mafara at the end of the State Security Council meeting.
“We have concluded that the security will now to closer to the men on the field as we intensify the operations, leaving no room for bandits. Assuring Nigerians and the world at large that armed banditry and other criminal acts will soon be history in Zamfara.
He stated that camps will be set up in all affected regions to enable the operation is carried out easily and on target with proper coordination.
Seeking to send messages to other affected states to enable a joint operation in dealing with this criminals, such states include Kebbi, Kano, Niger, Katsina, Kaduna and Sokoto.
The governor who praised the action of the President in banning the mining activities in the state noted that the ban had frustrated the bandits. Realising that there exist a correlation between the miners and the criminals, due to the fact that some of the victims who were kidnapped reported that they were kept near the mining sites.
He went further to say that the state government has never benefited from these miners through tax or royalties, making them unable to contribute to the development of the state.
