Senator Danjuma Goje has made his withdrawal from the 9th Senate Presidency election bill to hold on June 11 known.
The senator, who is from Gombe State is said to be in support of Senator Ahmed Lawan, his former rival and All Progressives Congress (APC) adopted candidate for the position.
The two senators had earlier met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, made this known to State House correspondents immediately after the meeting, as he was present at the meeting of the two senators with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senator Ita Enang, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, was reported to have been part of the meeting.
Ahmed is now left to fight for the seat with Senator Ali Ndume, who insisted he must run for the position against Lawan, who was adopted by his APC’s party as their preferred candidate to be the Senate President of the 9th National Assembly.
