Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has beckoned on politicians from the state to shun in his words killing of innocent people in Ijawland in the thirst for political gains.
Calling on sons and daughters from Niger Delta region, claiming to possess federal support to utilize their connections to speed up development, stabilize and promote peace in the communities, clan and the region at large.
This call was made during a condolence visit he made to the Amayanabo of Kalabari kingdom, King Theophilus J.T Princewill, Amachree XI, over the killings of 38 indigenes of Abonnema and two in Buguma all in Rivers state during the just concluded National Assembly and presidential elections
“We, the people of Ijaw are a peace-loving people and do not deserve this assault.” He called on the Federal government to identify and bring justice to those apart took in the murder in Abonnema and other regions in Kalabari Kingdom in River state including those maimed, killed and the properties destroyed in Bayelsa State and other communities.
The Governor expressed compassion with the Kalabari Kingdom and the familiies of the deceased, saying that the kingdom experienced more killing than any other kingdom during the election. Describing it as an election among brothers and friends.
Praising King J.T Princewill for peace and the stability in His kingdom and made prayers for continued peace and stability. King J.T Princewill thanked the governor for his visit describing it as wise and timely.
