Nigeria’s technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has been urged by some of the Super Eagles senior men to remain as coach of the country’s national team.
The German born tactician guided the three time champions to third place finish at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations championship in Egypt.
Having won the bronze medal for the country, Rohr is considering leaving his job, despite having one more year on his current deal with the Nigeria Football Federation.
It was gathered that his decision to quit may not be unconnected with the negative reports on social media.
However, the players were said to have told Rohr to remain in charge of the Eagles., saying having helped them to evolve to this stage, it would be delicate to dump them now.
The former Bordeaux coach has promised to decide in the coming days.
It will be recalled that Rohr was appointed Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach in 2016 – and qualified them for the World Cup in 2018, after which he won bronze medal for the country at the 2019 AFCON tourney in Egypt.
