The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members in Yobe State have been warned that if they want the party to succeed in future elections to shun rumor mongering, gossip and dissemination of fake news,.
Ambassador Umar El-Gash, the newly elected State Chairman of the party gave the warning today, Friday in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST Correspondent in Damaturu.
El-Gash said he emerged the state chairman of the opposition PDP due to the fact that the former chairman, Alhaji Sani Inuwa Nguru deflected to the APC at the eve of the Governorship/State Houses of Assembly elections.
The new chairman who was a former diplomat said his selection was based on his loyalty and integrity to the party from 1998 to date and as such would reposition the party in order to avoid past mistakes made in the last general election.
“I will ensure that, there is unity of purpose and check and balances within the party hierarchy to avoid vacuum of power.
“An open door policy will be one the driving force of my leadership, where all my doors will be opened for any member to offer his/her suggestions, comments and observations for the development of the party,” El-Gash stated.
Party loyalists were warned by him against malice, fake news, hatred and spreading rumors, beckoning on them to put aside the act, which according to him were factors that hindered the party from emerging victorious in the last general elections.
