Rochas Okorocha, the outgoing governor of Imo State entered the Abuja division of the Federal High Court hurrily on Tuesday chasing his Certificate of Return as senator-elect for Imo West senatorial district.
The governor and some of his aides and lawyers reportedly drove into the court premises in a convoy after 4pm and heading straight into some offices of the court.
After about 30 minutes, Okorocha came out from the court premises, but did not respond to journalists who waited for him outside the court premises to know any possible outcome.
Okorocha’s counsel, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, (SAN) filed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/296/2019 seeking a court order to compel the INEC to issue a certificate of return to him as the elected senator for Imo West senatorial district.
However, the suit hearing has suffered some setbacks due to some legal hurdles introduced by some interested parties to the suit and the setbacks reached a climax when Justice Taiwo. O. Taiwo, who was assigned to reside over the case withdrew over allegations of bias made against him by candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Justice Okon Abang is the new Judge of the court now residing over the case, who has adjourned it to May 8, 2019, at the instance of the plaintiff.
