Worshipping God By Speaking in Tongues

Worshipping God By Speaking in Tongues

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Speaking in tongues isn’t just for praying alone as most people would think. As much as the Holy Spirit blessed you with this gift to pray to God, He also gave you the ability to worship God by singing and speaking with the same tongues.

You can be speaking in tongues and be worshipping God with it. Have you ever heard adults in church saying people should worship God in another language, our heavenly language? You see, it is something that the Spirit of God empowers believers to do – not just adults, but children also.

While worshipping God in tongues, the Holy Spirit can magnify it for you and lead you to start singing in tongues as well, as worship to God. You may not know what you are singing, but you shouldn’t be bothered by this because God knows what you are singing. You are not singing rubbish; no you are not! You are only worshipping God in the language of heaven and all heaven is dancing along with you. How amazing is that? Angels dancing as you sing; very amazing.

The benefits of doing this are, worshipping God in tongues takes the burden of constructing words for worship. You also, won’t need new words to worship God with because you are speaking or singing in a language that is divinely renewing itself. Unlike using an earthly language that everyone knows what a word means. A heavenly language can mean so many things at different times. The third thing about it is that it helps you keep your focus on God.

Hallelujah! May the Spirit bless you with a massive gift of tongues to worship the King of kings. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, give me a stream of tongues that I may release my worship through them to you. I want to sing songs and worship in tongues to you. In Jesus’ name, I ask. Amen.

Action Plan:
If you have the gift of tongues, use them to sing to God. If you don’t, find someone to minister it to you. or ask the Holy Spirit for it.

How To Worship God Through Songs

How To Worship God Through Songs

Reading Time: 2 minutes

You can worship God through songs. Lovely songs that come from deep within you. You release these songs to Him as much as the Holy Spirit impresses them on your heart. You sing songs that speak of His goodness, mercies, great deeds, and much more.

These songs don’t even have to be known ones that you have heard before. They could be new, just given to you by the Spirit of God because that is what God wants you to say to Him at that particular moment.

Sometimes, the Holy Spirit won’t even allow you to write them down. He just wants you to sing them at that moment for God. Wonder why He says He is jealous? He can be that jealous and wants only you to sing those songs or just a song for Him.

Singing to God is something David was known for. The bible is full of the Psalms He wrote to God as worship to the great and mighty God.

Be like David and let the Holy Spirit give you songs that God wants only you to sing to Him. Isn’t that a wonderful thing? God giving you a unique song to sing to Him just for Him only. Hallelujah!

God loves it when children sing for Him. Your sweet voice is what He wants to hear first thing in the morning, during the day and even at night before you sleep. He waits to hear your voice worship Him with songs.

May the Lord receive your worship. Amen.

Prayer:
Mighty God, I raise my voice in worship to you. Let my voice and song(s) be sweet to Your ears. May Your Spirit give me the words to sing to You only. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Action Point:
Find, rehearse and sing beautiful songs in worship of the God of the whole universe. Tell Him why You love Him. He is waiting to hear you sing.

Confession:
I will sing praise unto God all day. I will not be an ingrate, complaining or grumbling.

Creativity In Worship With Focused Prayer

Creativity In Worship With Focused Prayer

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yesterday, we started the series on how to be creative with your worship of God. Today we will look at one way to do so – the art of prayer.

Prayer is a time of communicating with God one-on-one. Imagine that you are in a room with God and discussing with Him. You open your heart to Him about what you need, what you are going through and more. Prayer is more like that. It’s a closed-room session with God, where no one or anything is allowed in or should be allowed in.

And in that room, you can’t be talking with Him and also be talking to someone else. All of your attention should be on Him and what you want to say to Him. You shouldn’t be distracted by anything or anyone or allowing your thoughts to wander. If you want to stand, sit, kneel, bend or take any form, do so with the knowledge of being in His presence.

Having wandering thoughts breaks your connection to Him and in the process, you lose hearing Him speak, put impressions in your heart and sometimes hear something wrongly.

When you focus on Him, it helps to strengthen the connection between Him and you. Your prayers reach Him and you receive answers to them. Think of your TV set plugged into the wall socket. If you put it on without it plugged into the socket, it won’t come on. Much the same way if you go into God’s presence in prayer and losing focus.

One way you can be focused during prayers is by finding a quiet place to pray.

May the Lord help you to remain focused on Him during prayers, Amen.

Prayer point:

Lord, give me the grace to focus on You only during prayers. I remove every hindrance or distraction from my prayer time with You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Confession:

I am focused. My prayer is with utmost attention. I am not distracted in the place of prayers. I pray till I see my heart desires.

How To Be Creative In Your Worship Of God

How To Be Creative In Your Worship Of God

Reading Time: < 1 minute

What is worship? This is the act of giving reverence to God through your actions, words, thoughts, and in everything you do. You understand how powerful and holy God is and just want to show him how much you think of Him this way.

Your heart wants to connect with Him, to tell Him that you know He is the only true God. Beautiful words come to your mouth from the deepest parts of your heart, and it feels so good to say those words to Him.

When words aren’t enough, sometimes you turn them into songs. Songs that overflow with worship for Him. You sing to Him about His mightiness, awesomeness, beauty, and love for all mankind.

How about some love letters to Him, just like the Psalmists in the bible wrote psalms for God, telling about His deeds to man, to nature, and more.

In the next few days, we are going to be looking at how creative you can be in your worship of God.

May He give you the grace to worship Him in truth. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, I bask in your wonder and bow in worship to you.

Action Point:
Look up more definitions of what worship is. Relate it to worshipping God.

How To Choose Your Friends As Kids

How To Choose Your Friends As Kids

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Everyone has friends, but you must choose your friends wisely. This is because they can be a great asset or a great source of regret. Yeah, your friends can either make you or mar you. Their influence is very strong. It is not everyone that comes your way that qualify to enter into your friend zone; this is the reason you have to review your friends from time to time.

To review and choose your friends, ask questions like:

Who are your friends?
Are they from Christian homes and do they attend to the things of God with honour?
Do they tell lies?
Do they say vulgar jokes?
Do they encourage you to do good or bad?

Look at the questions and truthfully answer them. This helps you to know who to continue to have as a friend, and who to cut off from your side. The questions will help you to choose your friends.

Great people do not become friends with just anyone; they are careful with the people they call friends. This does not mean you should not be good to everyone or that you should not greet some people. It just means that it is not everyone that they share their life with. It is not everyone that they take counsel from. Friends are people you communicate well with, and therefore you have to choose your friends wisely.

It is my prayer that God will keep you, and that He will bless you with good friends. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord make me a better friend and bless me with good friends.

Action point:
Make a list of all your friends and start to examine that friendship list critically. Choose your friends. Then deliberately distance yourself from people you do not want to have as f

How To Make Good Decisions In The Family

How To Make Good Decisions In The Family

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Most times, family members are the most ignored set of people. We tend to think that they will always be there or they don’t need much from us. We pay more attention to people that we meet on the street than to the people we have inside the house. You can easily apologize to a random person you stepped on in the street, but you find it difficult to say ‘sorry’ at home. That is not how it should be!

Now take a good look at your relationship with your family members. Do so by asking yourself these questions and giving an honest answer to each of them:

  1. How often did you tell or show them you love them?
  2. How many times did you help them when they needed it?
  3. How often did you help your parents at home?
  4. How often did you obey parental instructions?
  5. How many times did you pray for your parents or siblings?
  6. What was the last gift you gave your family members?
  7. How often did you spend time with them?
  8. How often did you fight your sibling?

These are personal questions that will guide you. You can and should add yours to these.
Showing love to your family is important and gladdens the heart of God. One of the reasons is because the family is the fundamental unit of the society; when things are right there, things will be right in the larger society. As a Christian child, you are supposed to value the family system. Christianity itself is a family of believers in Christ.
May the Lord bless you in name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, I am grateful for the family you have blessed me with. I thank you for my parents and siblings. Help me to value them more. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Action point:
Start by saying a big thank you to your family members for being there for you throughout the year. You can make a big “thank you” card for them.

Praying For Others – Comfort For Loss Of A Loved One

Praying For Others – Comfort For Loss Of A Loved One

Reading Time: 1 minute

Losing a loved one is a painful experience. During such a period, they need to be comforted because of the pain they are in. They miss their loved ones and are trying to come to terms with not having them around anymore. This can truly be an excruciating experience for people.

At such a time of loss of a loved one, they need to be comforted and only God can do that for them. No word that anyone can speak will be able to offer the much needed comfort, if God does not come in. And how do we bring God into the situation? It is simply by praying for these ones.

You can pray to God to comfort the people that has lost a loved one. Before you go to say a word to them, get on your knees and say a prayer for them. Only He can comfort them as they should be comforted. His love for them will make Him to.

Say their names in prayer, asking that the grace of God will help them get back on their feet and continue with their lives. Losing a loved one will definitely create a gap in the lives of the people, but God is able to fill up that gap and make their lives whole again. That is the reason you need to pray for comfort for them.

May the Lord comfort you at all times. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, please comfort all those who need to be comforted right now. Help the people who has lost a loved one to receive your comfort and love in the name of Jesus. Amen

Action point:
Pray for that person you know who has just lost a loved one. Pray that they will receive comfort right now.

Praying For Others – Pray For Provision

Praying For Others – Pray For Provision

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Another thing you can ask God to do for people is to provide. God is our great provider, and that is the confidence you use to pray for provision for the people around you.

The bible tells us that God meets all our needs. He is able to provide our daily bread. He is able to make us lie down in green pastures. He was the One that provided manna for the children of Israel as they journeyed through the wilderness! And just like He met all the needs of the Israelites while they were on their way to the Promised land, He is able and willing to meet yours too. He gave the Israelites food, water, healing, protection, and lots more. So you must learn to pray for provision.

And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 (AMP)

Pray that God will provide for the needs of your friends, especially those whose parents are struggling to pay their fees at school. Ask that God will send help their way.

Pray for provision for neighbours who have needs too. God can do this for them. God can bring surprises their way, if only you can pray for provision. Pray for your parents. Ask that God will provide for them to provide for you and your siblings. Pray for people who are around you whose needs you can see and know of. Pray that God will give them whatever they need.

When you pray for provision for others, God will provide for you too. Besides, you don’t know who is even praying for you too. That’s just the way it works.

Remember, with God nothing is impossible. So, don’t think your prayers are in vain. God hears them all.

May the Lord answer your prayers, as you pray for provision. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, please provide for all the people I know and don’t know who need provision of any kind. Send help to them right now. Amen.

Action point:
Start to pray for provision for others.

Praying For Others – Pray For Protection

Praying For Others – Pray For Protection

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The world is full of so much evil; everyone needs to be protected. And this is where your prayer comes in – you can also pray for protection; for people to be protected by God. The bible tells us that God is the ultimate protector of all mankind. If God does not protect someone, then every form of human protection is utterly useless. See this verse of the Bible:

If the LORD does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless; if the LORD does not protect the city, it does no good for the sentries to stand guard.

Psalm 127:1 (GNT)

Did you see that? Therefore you must learn to pray for protection, if you want people to be guarded by God. Pray for your parents on their way to work, at work, and on their way back home. Pray for your friends, neighbors, extended family members, classmates, and others.

Pray that God will keep them safe from any accident, infection, trouble, or loss. God can protect, and He will protect whatever you hand over to Him. Do you think there is anything that can come and take what is in the Hand of God? I don’t think so. God is so powerful that whatever you commit to Him is kept safe. When you pray for protection, you are putting those people or things into the Hand of God, and they will sure be safe.

You could pray for people worldwide also, especially in places where there are wars or insecurity.

May the Lord keep you and your family safe, as you pray for protection. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, I pray that you keep all my family members safe throughout today. Keep my friends safe. Watch over all my loved ones. Amen.

Action point:
Start to pray. Pray for protection

Praying For Others – Pray For Healing

Praying For Others – Pray For Healing

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yesterday we started a series on praying for others and the sort of prayer God loves to hear. Today we will look at how to pray for healing for others.

Do you know someone who is sick? It may be a classmate, a church buddy, a neighbour, a friend at your lesson class or someone that belongs to the same club as you. The good news is that you can pray for them. Ask God to heal them and make them whole again.

You have the power to pray for healing for others. This is simply because the blood of Jesus has the power to heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases; so you can use the blood of Jesus to pray for the people you know that are passing through sickness.

Declare healing bible verses over them, mentioning their names as you do so. Divine healing is the portion of Christians. God does not like sicknesses, because it causes pain to His children; that is the reason He made healing possible. And that is also the reason that Jesus healed a lot of people when He was on earth. And you too, with the authority in the Name and Blood of Jesus, you can pray for healing for anyone that is sick, and God will heal the person. It’s so cool, isn’t it?

The world is still dealing with the effects of the covid-19 pandemic. Pray that God will heal those who have contracted the virus.

Pray, believing God will heal them. Pray for healing for people.
May the Lord give you the boldness to do so. Amen

Prayer:
Father, I ask for divine healing for (mention their name(s)). I ask through the name of Jesus. I declare that they are healed and made whole.

Action point:
Start to pray for healing for people who you know are sick.

Little Ones, Do You Know Who You Are?

Little Ones, Do You Know Who You Are?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Have you ever been asked this question either jokingly or seriously? If you have never been asked, I am asking you now; Who are you? Do you know your real identity? Do you know where you come from? Do you know what you are supposed to do here on earth?

Knowing your identity is knowing who or what your source is. That is how you get your identity.
If you are asked for your state of origin, you will naturally say that of your parents; this is simply because you come from them, they gave birth to you. You won’t say another state; not at all.

But as a Christian, who are you? Think deep on this, using the example of your parents that we just cited. The answer is simple— you are a child of God, the Creator of Heaven and earth. Boldly declare this right now; say ” I am a child of God.” You are a child of God because we all come from Him.

1 John 4:4 (KJV) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

So, tell yourself with all the confidence in the world and boldly declare who you are. You are the child of God. You are the child of the King. You are the child of the mighty Creator of the heavens and earth. This is your identity! Know and speak it, and then live it.

May you continue to hold on to your heavenly heritage; to who you are. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, I am Your child. You are my Father. I come from You. Thank You for this heavenly heritage I have through You. Amen.

Action point:
Since you know who you are, start acting it out in your daily activities.

Know That Your God Is So Big

Know That Your God Is So Big

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Have you ever thought about how big God will be? You can think about it now. If you do, then you will discover that God is so big. Yeah, your Jehovah is so mighty. He’s so strong and so great as well. And there’s nothing He cannot do for you. There’s even a song about that too: “You are big, big, big…” Do you know that song?

It’s no lie about the how big God is. Take a look at the whole earth, the one that this our great Elohim created. There is no other earth anywhere! So look at the whole earth. Check out the different animals with their various looks, sounds, and attributes. Check out the plants and trees all around us also. That should show you that God is so big.

How about the water bodies? Look into the water bodies and examine all the living creatures in them. You will be marvelled at what you will find. When you are through with that, then face the sky and count the stars, feel the sun on your face and the glow of the moon on the ground. These will prove to you, beyond every reasonable doubt that God is so big.

That’s how a big God does. And He does big things for us – for you and for me. And there’s nothing He cannot do or be for you and for me. That is comforting to know, right? Let that be your confidence as you go through life.

May God continue to be big in your life in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer:

God, please come be big and bigger in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Action point:

How bigger do you think Jehovah can be? How big can He be in your life?

What Do You Want To Become?

What Do You Want To Become?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Have you ever thought about what you want to become in life? Have you ever wondered how adults become the professionals they are today? How did your mom and dad become what they are today?

Well, it’s all about deciding what they wanted to do at a very early age, much like you are right now. So you should start thinking in this direction, if you have not yet started.

What do you want to become? An astronaut, software designer, boat builder, race car driver or a writer? It is all about what you like to do. What do you like to do? Starting early to decide what you would like to become in future is important. This is because when you discover it, then you start to learn how to become it and then go through every process involved.

That’s how you can become what you want to become in life. The process will involve training, class lessons, exams and tests. You learn and then get tested before being certified as a professional.

Discover what you love to do and take all the necessary education you need about it. That’s how mommy and daddy did it.

Be like Samuel in the bible who learned under the prophet Eli. Under the prophet’s supervision, Samuel grew into a great prophet that God used to speak to kings in Israel.

May God show you what your passion is in Jesus name. May you come to know what you want to become in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to discover what I like to do and become in future in Jesus’ name. Amen

Action plan:
Start to note what you like doing. From there, you can discover your talents, then what you want to become in life.

Declaration:
I will help my parents and grandparents

It Pays To Obey Instructions – Part 5

It Pays To Obey Instructions – Part 5

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We have been examining how much it pays to obey instructions. In this grand finale, God showed His superior power over the rebels. He called on His fellow generals and did a quick meeting where it was decided on how to defeat the builders downstairs on earth.

7. “Come, let us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) go down and there confuse and mix up their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech,” 8. So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the surface of the entire earth, and they stopped building the city. 9. Therefore the name of the city was Babel-because there the Lord confused the language of the entire earth, and from that place the Lord scattered and dispersed them over all the surface of the earth.

It pays to obey instructions. The people in this Scripture were definitely not walking in the instructions of God; so God came in all His glory and power and created confusion in their midst, gave them new languages, and scattered them, just as they feared.

He made them understand that He is our Creator and whatever He doesn’t want us to do is for our own good. What if the tower had collapsed while they were building and caused a lot of them to be injured or lose their lives? It sure pays to obey instructions.

The principal called some male teachers and they went to disperse the boys. They also ensured they caught the chief rebel, Daniel, and his small generals. Someone had to be punished.

What if the fence had collapsed and caused some injuries or loss of lives? Who would be blamed? The school of course. It really pays to obey instructions.

May the Lord protect you from all dangers as long as you obey instructions. Amen

Prayer:
Lord, make me an obedient child. Help me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Action Plan:
Watch your associations. Are they causing you to rebel? Decide to obey instructions today.

Declaration:
I am an obedient child.
