GUIDELINES FOR FASTING

1.    Decide the Purpose of the Fast Before You Begin
a.    “I am fasting for these reasons…”
b.    List them as well as what you plan to fast.
c.    Dan 9:3 Setting our faces toward God.
d.    Must be founded on God’s Word.

2.    Proclaim the Fast Before the Lord.
a.    “Father, with You as my helper, I commit to this fast.”
b.    “I humble myself and refuse (whatever) for a specified time.”
c.    “I do away with my own pleasure bringing my body under subjection.”
d.    “I humble my mind, my will and my emotions.”
e.    “I seek the Face of God for answers, breakthroughs and authority.”

3.    Believe, Before the Fast that You Received the Reward (Results) Promised by   Jesus in Matt 6:18
a.    Matt 6:18 Thy Father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
b.    Mark 11:24 What things so ever ye desire, when you pray, believe that ye 
receive them, and ye shall have them.
c.    You are not going to receive because you fast.
d.    You will receive because you believed in faith.
e.    Fasting is an assistance to receiving.

4.    Minister to the Lord While You Are Fasting
a.    Ministering to the Lord in praise and worship will keep your spirit active, will 
build you up    and will open the door for the Holy Ghost to speak.
b.    Acts 13:1-3 They ministered to the Lord and fasted, and the Holy Ghost 
said…
c.    Acts 16:25 Paul and Silas sang praises unto God.
d.    Eph 5:18-21 Making melody in your heart to the Lord.
e.    Col 3:16 Singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
f.    I Cor 14:1, 13-17 For thou verily givest thanks well.

5.    Minister to Others During and After the Fast
a.    Always be available and do this as God leads.
b.    Isa 58:10 Draw out thy soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul.
c.    Example, give the money you would have spent on the things you are 
fasting to the poor.
d.    Example, give clothes, food or other things you are fasting.
e.    Fasting is a period of preparing yourself for greater ministry.

6. Expect Assistance from the Angels

a. Jesus received assistance from angels during His fast.
b. Matt 4:11 The devil leaveth Him, and behold, angels came and ministered unto Him.
c. Heb 1:14 You can expect help from ministering spirits.
d. They are licensed to assist you where you are and throughout the world, wherever your influence is needed.

    Although I v started fasting on my own for my future, raging storm in my relationship, unnecessary delays in my life, wanting to know God more, change of attitude.. This post has encouraged me to continue. God bless u sir!
